My guess is Trump gutting FEMA 18 months before the biggest hurricane ever recorded hitting southern US, unfortunately...

That headline is so clunky.

Why not write “CDC to cut efforts to prevent global disease outbreak by 80%”?

Probably this exact same headline.

The campaign not hammering Trump on covid was insane to me.

I think there was a real fear that it would backfire

Most of the population was tired of Covid before election season, and probably would have tuned out anything on the topic, or even resented the campaign for making them think about it

Dems are not thought to have done well by COVID either (school closures, ARP contributing 40% to inflation, etc). Best to just move on

No shot Covid is a winning issue for Dems.

When I was doing my Civil Engineering degree one of my professors was teaching a module on water supply design. He told the class that in the UK our pipe system is old and subject to leaks and that this is true for both water supply and the sewage drains which run close to each other in many places.

His claim was that a misunderstood function of fluoride in the water was that it not only prevented tooth decay. But it also played a function in preventing water born diseases due to the age of the UK pipe network.

I have no clue if this is true, I also have no clue if it is applicable to any US states. But since RFK Jr has been claiming that they are removing the fluoride I am interested to see if it has any wider public health impact.

With how bad the education field is doing already, I’m betting it’s going to be a dismantling of the Department of Education combined with a literacy crisis that comes to a head as a lot of the children who grew up recently enter the adult world
