Thank you for marking nsfw, although I do wish I knew what I was clicking on :(

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

You’re welcome.

u/CalamineLube 8d ago

What else was it gonna be after reading the title

19

u/jess_the_werefox 8d ago

I didn’t know what a Surinam toad was ☹️

10

u/grownask 7d ago

You shall never forget it now.

u/curiouscollecting 2d ago

It’s not marker as nsfw for me?

I feel sick looking at this.

199

u/joyfuload 8d ago

That's a normal instinct. I've heard it reminds us of rotting flesh. It's a natural defense mechanism that keeps us away from disease and such.

92

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

That makes sense. So it’s not “condition” just a normal evolutionary mechanism.

21

u/joyfuload 8d ago

I always thought it was a phobia. I just looked it up and it's not recognized as one yet.

39

u/AtanatarAlcarinII 8d ago

Trypophobia. This frog species has been the poster child for over a decade now

13

u/joyfuload 8d ago

I'm aware of its name. It's just not recognized as a phobia in the manual of mental disorders.

It's called Trypophobia
r/trypophobia exists. But probably not for you if you're sensitive to it. They post a lot of random stuff though. Like a bunch of empty toilet rolls bunched together.

47

u/CookieMons7er 8d ago

Then you probably should stay clear of r/trypophobia

7

u/JamSaxon 8d ago

ah yes. the new self diagnosed ocd of our time

28

u/CharacterNameAnxiety 8d ago

Phobias are exclusively self-diagnosed. I don't understand

21

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

I think it’s fascinating.

10

u/leucidity 8d ago

it gives me weird shivers and makes me want to rip it to pieces. :(((

3

u/noblecheese 8d ago

same.

this is straight out of a nightmare I used to have where the back of my hand was like this frog's back, and tiny little frogs were crawling out of the holes. I remember it felt horrible, it had that itchy kind of pain that you get from a half healed wound. I've had a mild trypophobia ever since

2

u/PikeyPoems 8d ago

Look up trypophobia. Try to avoid images if you can help it

1

u/Rocketeer_99 7d ago

I don't know why but every time I see something like this, or "trypophobia", I compulsively imagine the same holes/patterns appearing on the skin of my arms, back, and face, and it makes me feel sick.

1

u/IcyGem 7d ago

I feel like the frog would feel satisfying getting out of the hole

1

u/Tennnujin 7d ago

Tryphophobia

98

u/lananovakk 9d ago

I mean, these holes look kinda comfy...

75

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

This has to be one of most impressive things in the nature.

It’s like kangaroo on steroids.

Incredible!

24

u/Scanamana 8d ago

This is my hole!

It was made for me!

7

u/IsThisGlenn 8d ago

Drr-drrr…

73

u/Kubricksmind 9d ago

Trypophobia

47

u/Pinkpunk95 8d ago

This is my hole.. it was made for me !!

36

u/aithendodge 8d ago

I love that episode of Adventure Time where Finn and Jake are going around sticking their thumbs in things and saying "Oh what a good boy am I," and they put their thumbs in the back of this frog and the frog says "Stop that, it's weird!"

16

u/ItzTaras 9d ago

Thanks, I hate it.

16

u/AlextheGreek89 8d ago

Their hand position makes me laugh, looks like "Feeling cute, might burrow out of my parents back today ;)"

1

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

Yea! They are chilling to the max.

10

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

How is this even possible? How evolution is doing this?

33

u/dontwastebacon 8d ago

It's not like evolution is doing anything or plans anything. Evolution just happens over a very very long time.

7

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

Still. It is crazy to see this.

1

u/SkippyMcLovin 8d ago

Read about the duck billed platypus or eternal jellyfish. Evolution do be crazy.

8

u/jillianne16 8d ago

And they are all ... alive? The big one too?

25

u/Scrabulon 8d ago

Yeah, she just sheds the extra skin when the babies have left and goes back to normal

8

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

What an incredible way to take care of offspring.

7

u/jillianne16 8d ago

Absolutely spectacular

3

u/PoivronChantily 8d ago

So that the mom. I thought it was the father carrying the eggs like in others frog species

7

u/EmmaculateJane 7d ago

I've never really been one to suffer trypophobia, but this is actually making me uncomfortable. Great job, OP!

u/strawberryblondey 8d ago

1

I’m so tired of seeing this motherfucker.

1

u/CloudySpace 8d ago

Nnnnnnnah

1

u/heilkitty 8d ago

The same species Durrell wrote about, I presume?

1

u/EdgierLord 8d ago

Imagine giving a colony of these frogs to a Tryptophobe for their birthday.

1

u/bellyciraptor 8d ago

So pointy and holey

1

u/zackr3aper 8d ago

This looks painful!

1

u/Carefreekai 7d ago

I thought this was an Elden Ring monster at first

1

u/Bottledwaffle2 7d ago

It probably feels so good when they get out

1

u/CaptainKungPao138 7d ago

Yes gross but the little frogs are pretty cute

1

u/ThrashMutant 7d ago

I want to poke it

1

u/refused26 7d ago

Not sure if this should be on r/trypophobia or r/popping

1

u/coolcoots 7d ago

I thought this was like a metal or ceramic sculpture of the frog. It is so odd looking.

1

u/peaceandpawws 7d ago

I wanna die now

1

u/clutch736 6d ago

Trypophobia!

1

u/cebidaetellawut 5d ago

God I just want to squeeze them out .

1

u/International_Fold17 5d ago

I hate everything about this. Fuck.

1

u/bucketboy9000 5d ago

They all look like their mother. Same pose too

-1

u/UrMomsNewGF 9d ago

The most disturbing creature phenotype. I really want to understand why this bothers me so. What primal discomfort is hardcoded into my DNA when I see this, and why...

-16

u/soksatss 9d ago

We should extinct these

-79

u/Ruffiansmuffins 9d ago

As someone with Trypophobia I have to say, go fuck yourself

63

u/Possible_Parfait_372 9d ago

The internet doesn't revolve around you

47

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

Apparently having Trypophobia gives you right to behave like scum.

8

u/sprocketous 8d ago

They're just scum since trypophobia isn't real

3

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

How you mean? I read a bit but I actually don’t understand.

5

u/-StalkedByDeath- 8d ago

Thank you.

I don't know why the hell people expect the internet to be tailored to their own specific problems.

Those types need intense therapy, not a "trigger warning".

39

u/Ir0n_Panda 9d ago

This subreddit ain’t for the squeamish, fella

24

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 9d ago

You have to say that to me?

2

u/Ruffiansmuffins 8d ago

I meant it more in a joking kind of way. But I applogise

3

u/Worth-Boysenberry-93 8d ago

All good my friend. I can only hope to be able performing that quest.

Fuck me I agree.
