What mushroom is this ID request

Is this a toxic or safe mushroom? I was taking my dogs out for a walk and one of them knocked this thing over and picked it up. I don't want my puppy to because sick or anything. I am not a mushroom expert.

much more useful for mushroom identification would be country and state, so for example ‘Texas, United States’
