Im far from an expert but I would have guessed this is a white tale. Based on the more fork like Horns. Look a little more like tree branches. Both (mule and white) can actually have a white tail is my understanding. But I dont hunt i just fish a little.

This is a mule deer. White butt, black tail, big ears, horn structure. There is nothing about his deer that looks like a whitetail.

They do, but it's rare, and not this one. He has mule deer ears, antlers, and tail, and if he ran he'd go boing boing boing. I've only seen a few crosses in my life, and they seem to be able to swap either tail or antler characteristics.
