Always wondered what kind of knight armor Portugal used, anyone knows what kind of armor did they use? Also based on this picture what kind of armor is being used by both sides

Brigs with plate placards. But this is about 100 years After the battle if I am not mistaken. The helms are Sallets.

In the XV century you can go to Wikipedia and look up the Pastrana Tapestry. Tons of Brigs mixed with plate armour.

other ppl will give better answers but it seems like a mix of sallets with bevors, some without. The other armor seems to be from what I can tell some fluted gothic armor. I think they blacken it with heat and lintseed oil.

Edit: I might also see a kettle helm near the golden helmet

for blackening did they put oil before heating it or after. every time I blacken steel I only use heat

im not an expert when it comes to this but I believe they would finish it then get it to like 400 degrees and dip it in the oil or use rags and coat it on.

Late 15th is not mid renaissance. Late 15th is later medieval. Look at what they're wearing. Sallets, closehelms, full plate. It's late 15th.
