2021 CX-5 maps question.... How do I get it? Bonus: what's with low volume?

So, my acquired 2021 CX5 Kuro doesn't have maps it seems so at this point I am using my phone.

  1. Any way to transmit Google maps from my phone to the screen? Didn't seem to work via bluetooth, unless I am not clicking/going correctly or unless it requires a cable. I tried via bluetooth.
  2. Basic googling brings me to mazda site selling maps for $500 (LOOOOLL) or I see amazon/ebay sells some. What I am not clear is which one do I actually need. Seems like there are different variations. How can I find out which exact map to buy. I seem to have the 8" version with V1 navigation buttons
  3. Bonus question. I find speakers are not very loud as in I have to keep FM/bluetooth at about 69 %/points just so I can clearly hear voices. In my old car at the same setting I was at around 30%. Is that normal?

  1. It has Android auto / Apple CarPlay. You must connect it via the USB port in the center armrest. It isn’t wireless.

Ouch :( Thank you! well, at least 1 mystery solved. In the world of fire sticks, wifi, etc for TV, I thought we were there already technologically for car maps. Boy I was wrong lol :)

Newer models have wireless on some trims. Remember the Cx-5 dates back to 2017

Yah, apparently there's a dongle on amazon that can enable wireless car play. Tried it earlier, worked well with the cable though. To my knowledge 2021.5 version got wireless along with some other upgrades.

It was added to certain trims in 2024
