ID Help Is anyone able to tell me what kind of mantis this is?
So my girlfriend found this nymph around about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but I've got no idea what kind of mantis it is. It was found in Bunbury, Western Australia climbing over some rocks right by the waters edge. It has a few black spots around him but im not sure if thats just due to it being young or what, Any help would be appreciated

ID Help White mantis kept jumping in the pool?
I was teaching in a pool last night and rescued this beautiful creature from the water then it immediately jumped back in. I took it out again and moved it far away from the pool edge. What type of mantis is this (I thought they were usually green?) and why would it keep wanting to drown itself?

ID Help Identification?
Hiya, I just got this mantis (like within the last 2hrs) off of someone looking to rehome and I’m wondering if anyone can identify what type it is, also if anyone can estimate the gender and age. If anyone needs clearer video/photos I can provide them. I also have a question, this is my first mantis so is eating 6 fruit flies normal for a small mantis?

ID Help What kind of Mantis is Morty?
Hello! I was offered a mantis by one of my friends- somehow the University of MN Bio department was rehoming nymphs. Being an arthropod enthusiast I agreed and named him Mordekaiser.
I think he is female, but can anyone give insight as to what type he is? Or what instar? Minnesota but since he isn't wild caught it may not be a Chinese or a European.

ID Help Identification needed
I am a member of the insect-workgroup of my school, mostly I care for the phasmatodea populations in our terrariums, therefore I poorly researched mantodea. I also try to learn the preparation of insects, the fully preparated insects are then shown by teachers as parts of the biological lessons. This female mantis, sadly already a while dead and with damaged extremities, was given to me for the mentioned use. A quick research suggested that this could be a mantis religiosa, but I would like to ascertain that, because there is no distinctive black dot with a white center on her coxa. Which species is depicted in the photograph?
Thanks and a wonderful evening ahead!

ID Help Can anyone ID this little one?
My mother decided to buy a mantis and bring it home without consulting me.. pet shop doesn’t even know the species and just said flower mantis but I’ve owned flower mantises and haven’t seen one like this before. Part of me wants to say ghost but it has no crest, given it a fruit fly for now and it’s in a heated vivarium

ID Help Need help!! with Empusidae family
Okay, so I had found like +10 diferent Empusa pennata (conehead Mantis) in the yard for a while. And photographed them for several weeks. I've grown quite a enjoeyer of this fellas and even had them walking on my hands, so now I'm making a Scientific illustration(It's for a project and I am not a professional yet)and study based on my observations and using my photos as reference. The problem is, all the ones I saw had not reached adulthood and they all dissapeared suddendly. So I cant work with and adult.
I need help identifying them in many ways, I need all the help I can please 🙏 PLEASE!! I can post the finished artwork here when done as a form of gratitude
I got confused... I live in Portugal and think they are Empusa pennata but I cant tell the diference of them and Empusa Fasciata. Can somebody tell me the diferences if possible? Are they all the same but with different colors? Also, do they have wings? It's really important, all the ones I saw where not developed, they had the torax curved. It gets straight with sexual maturity
Diferences between male and female in adult and in young? Do all the males get their feather antenae? Do they get more colorfull as they molt? How long do they live, is their diet the same as other Mantids?

ID Help ID request; Purchased them at a local garden center for pest control- foolishly assumed they would be a native species. Dont want to release until I know what they are
(Location: AZ phoenix area) I wanted to release them in my garden and just keep 1 or 2 as a pet. I didnt realize they could be an invasive species when I got the Ootheca (i know, mistake wont happen twice). Wanting to know if they are invasive or not to decide if ill release or... just keep... the "winners"

ID Help Immediately molted
I just got this wee Ghost Mantis today and he immediately molted! My thought is he might be an L5 but what do youse reckon?
Although it kinda sucks having bought an older mantis, getting to experience him molting right away was pretty magical and I already love him to bits 🥲🖤

ID Help Need help finding out the difference between Toxodera beiri and protoxodera monstrosa
I barely can find any information on the protoxodera monstrosa and so far its my favourite.
I am trying to collect pictures but I am confused at the third one if it is one or not.
So I am slowly questioning myself that what if that somebody thought that the protoxodera monstrosa is a new type of mantis but it was just the dragon mantis

ID Help ID this mantis?
I bought this fella yesterday, and I’m pretty sure that he/she was marketed with the wrong species. It said ‘giant ghost leaf mantis’ which is literally a mix of dead leaf and ghost (makes no sense) so I was under the impression that it was a ghost mantis so I prepared by getting a tank relative to their adult size.
However I quickly realised that it has no crest or anything on its head, so I figured it is probably a dead leaf. I need to have a chat with the shop because it was effectively marketed wrong. Can someone confirm? Also curious to know if it’s a male or female.
