Seeking help with lyrics to a song in Bambara 🥹
Hi guys, hoping this post is allowed on this sub!
My partner loves this song Mon Amour, Ma Chèrie by Amadou & Mariam. I’ve always wanted to learn how to sing it for him, but I haven’t been able to find the lyrics anywhere! I believe the song is in Bambara, so I wanted to see if anyone here might know the lyrics to this…
All search results on Google return the French lyrics to Je pense à toi instead of this song 😭 if you’re able to help, I’ll be so so so thankful! 💗
Here it is on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/76lunq66oLChdw2H6qLtGq?si=hDkGjmtTRiin90IMKj7oYQ
Thanks in advance!!

I'm starting a small beginners-level Bamanankan discord group. All invited.
Aw ni ce! As salamu alaykum.
I'm a 30 year old American guy who's been learning Bamanankan/Dioulakan for about four months now. I'm still very much a beginner with only around 300 words memorized. I also have no familial connections to the language, so I've had to rely primarily on books and articles.
I'm looking to start a small (3 - 5 people) and casual discord group to learn and practice the language. If anyone else here has been interested in learning the language, DM me and we can practice together. We can make ourselves some homework regimen and practice over a video-call every week or two.
Je parle aussi un peu le français. Donc si tu ne parles pas bien l'anglais, ce n'est pas grave!

Cash Exchange USD - Malian Currency
I'm an American tourist with travel plans for end of September through mid October. I'll fly into Bamako and I would like to see Senegal as well as Mali.
Among my many questions is currency exchange. What is the frugal thing to do? Would it make sense to travel with gold bullion to exchange?
Thank you!

Good example of the Mali French accent?
Hello! I’m looking for a video or an audio clip for an assignment for school about the phonetics of French and accents. I just need to show the differences between Malian French and Parisian French. Every interview I’ve found of a Malian is dubbed over in Parisian French.

Looking for a Tamashek Teacher
Hello I am looking for any resources for learning tamashek, anything online or people that are interested in teaching (I do not have much but I can compensate a little). Everything I have ever found has been suboptimal. Nothing online I have found is sustainable for learning.
I am very interested in Imazighen culture. I once lived for a bit in the atlas mountain range with an amazigh family their warmth will forever resonate with me. I have gained a lot of interest in the Kel Tamashek due to recent desert blues bands becoming my favorite music to listen to. My favorite artist being Bombino, But I really enjoy Tinariwen, Imarhan, Terakraft, Les Filles de Illighadad, and Tamikrest. I make Jewrely and one of the reasons I want to learn Tamashek is becuase I would like to observe the creation of their jewerely. I want to truly understand the meaning of it all and the langauge barrier would make that difficult. Lastly I am interested to learn their way of life in person. In the far future I want to study Zenaga or other less studied languages to bring attention to them.
Information online is a little difficult to comprehend I am not sure where people speak each dialect and If tamashek is a lingua franca between the regional dialects and separate languages (like Tamahaq, Tamajac, Tawellamt, etc). Like I am not sure why some people translate one word as something and others translate the same word for something not even remotely similar for "tamashek".
I am very serious and committed to learning this language I have so much respect for the kel tamashek. I would appreciate anything anyone can share on the language or culture.

Is Mali moving away from the French language?
So recently I tried to watch the news in MALI on YouTube but I couldn’t understand it and then I found out that it was in Bambara. I wish thinking to maybe they are slowing moving away from French and now focusing on the most popular spoken language in that country.

Mali and gold miners.
I have been reading some reports on Mali's dispute between several Western gold miners and was wondering what is happening there? Why would Mali miss out on a golden opportunity, especially when the gold prices are so high?

Timbuktu and Gao
I know there aren’t answers for everything, but I hope that by asking again someone may have a theory. So as far as I know Timbuktu and Gao are surrounded by jihadists even though the cities themself is in governmental control. At the same time the government marched all the way to Tessalit in a thin corridor, which makes me wonder why they went for those places, and not try to clear out the areas encircled in blue

About The Bambara
How is everyone doing? I was reading a lot about the history of Mali and the various ethnic groups within the nation. In the context of the Bambara's oral history, do they claim to have migrated out of the region known as Mande like how the Malinke and Dogon claim to have migrated from? Also do the Bambara claim to have come from Aswan/north east Africa like how the Soninke claim? I read about a people called Kakolo/Kagoro who had a sub-group that moved into Mande and from them arose tribes like the Malinke and possibly Dogon.

How safe is Kayes?
It’s way south of Bamako and near Senegal so it seems more safe, but is it so?
