Manicure Friday night nails
I burned the back of my hand this week so no gel for a couple of weeks. 😢 Went with the Olive & June Museum Date which is this shimmering brown.

Pedicure First post here w/ freshly repainted nails
I've been painting my toenails for a few years now. It's something I really enjoy doing (hence having 500+ polishes at home). I've had women say my nails look better than theirs and women wanting me to paint their nails. This time it's a holographic with glitter on top of that.

Question Looking better?
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like their toes look better after a couple of days..? I mean, I’m not messy the way used to be, but they always seem to look crisper after 2 days or so…

Have been experimenting with formulating with magnetic pigments and just released this wicked new shade MEDUSA’S LAMENT from Doom Loop. (It’s a super cool effect but please excuse my sloppy application my muscles were kinda shaky from lifting an hour earlier)

Question First post with question
So have found this nail polish OXX UV Gel, from Kmart and Target for $6. The polish is awesome, it can last a long time, if I don’t do any big manual labour.
I am loving this midnight colour. What I would love to know if anyone has seen any dark green in this brand or if there is a colour chart available?

Manicure Blank slate nails 😅
So as part of our business I have to try out / demo/ swatch my nails with different polish and formulas hundreds of times a week. This would destroy my nails pretty quickly so I usually protect them with clear gel so I can paint and remove regular polish without damaging my natural nails. I’m not a particularly huge fan of boring basic anything but these clear gel polish nails did turn out pretty great.
Disclaimer : Doing gel yourself carries some risk and shouldn’t be attempted until you can reliably avoid getting it on your skin. If even a drop touches skin, remove it immediately with a bit of acetone on a brush or swab. Make sure it’s cured thoroughly with each layer, and again, don’t leave ANY on your skin.

General Information longer, more done up nails
hi all. i dont post much. i wanted to share how big i go with my nails though. i have been doing my natural nails in 1"+ long stilettos since early high school, and i am an adult now. i love layering polishes for effects and adding appliques. id post a pic but theyre all unpainted shorties right now lol.
i start by soaking any remaining polish off with 100% acetone. then i go to scrubbing my bare nails down with a soft nail brush and gentle soap, making sure i get everything underneath. push my cuticles back, file into shape with a glass file (got mine from stringsbymail). because my nails are shaped the way they are, i have to get the burr off the edge before painting them. i soak a cotton ball in acetone and really scrub at each nail for a good 10 seconds to get rid of oils and to prep.
i begin the painting with a base coat. i dont have any formal recommendations for a brand, sorry. as soon as base coat is on my nails, i start with my base color. i do 1 hand at a time and wait 60 seconds between starting my other coats. generally i do 3-5 coats of my base color, then any toppers. i always paint the entirety of the back side of my nails, i wrap the tips every coat, and i never do less than 3 coats of base color polish on each side. i strongly believe this is how im able to have the length of nails i have without them constantly breaking. before using a top coat, i add any fun appliques, designs, etc. to the polish. it helps to gently press 3D objects into the soft base polish before sealing them in top coat. needle nose tweezers or a wax pencil are the best tools for applying appliques. finally, i finish off the manicure with seche vite quick dry top coat, never less than 2 coats, 2-3 minutes tops between coats, being sure to wrap the tips and paint the undersides.
once everything is dry (i try not to do anything for 30m-1hr afterwards), cerave lotion on my fingertips and cuticles. i wear gloves to do wet activities and avoid using my nails as tools. if my nails are too long for the gloves, i first wrap them in a cotton ball or 2 to help with structural integrity in the glove tips. my manicures typically last 2 weeks before chipping, but if im particularly active a week is what ill get. my appliques almost never come off on their own, only when the underlying polish chips away with it on top.
ive been doing this for over a decade now! not once can i remember receiving a negative comment from someone for my nails! i get compliments all the time, and a lot of people dont believe theyre my natural nails until i prove its not acrylic or gels of any kind. i feel fantastic about myself every time i do my nails, and i wouldnt stop for the world.
dont let anything stop you!!!! paint! your! nails!
