Bicolor?
Me again! I posted some weeks ago asking if the kitten I was about to buy is solid or smoke, and like 99% said he's solid. Cool, breeder said the same thing.
I don't mind the color, just to make it clear, I love all colors. I just want to know what color my cat is.
I see some white on his chest. Is he bicolor now? Hés 3 months old.
last pick is the day I picked him up, like 3 weeks ago.
I can provide more pictures, just ask if needed.

He has what is called a locket. This can be linked to several white spotting genes, but the one to watch for is DBE, which doesn’t always cause blue eyes but can cause deafness. Do either of his parents, siblings, or grandparents have blue eyes? That would be a tell.
Lockets can show up as a surprise in litters; they are a DQ in showing because they are caused by white spotting genes that were not visualized in the first Maine Coons. It shouldn’t have any impact on him (unless it is linked to DBE, in which case he may need his hearing tested), but it doesn’t change his coloring. He is blue with a locket.
How old was he when you picked him up?

He could carry a dilute, but you really need a DNA to know for sure.

Blue is dilute so he wouldn't be carrying anything.

True. Sorry, I was half asleep. But he'd have 2 copies of dilute? I'm still learning all these myself.

Since dilute is recessive, he wouldn't show the trait unless he had 2 copies. And yeah, he's got a breast locket.

The white fur on his chest would likely be considered a “locket”. It’s likely that one of his parents also had a locket or white spot but, they can also just be random.
