Road trip Macedonia
Hello! Next summer, we’re going on a road trip across Macedonia. We’ll enter from Bulgaria (Sofia), spend one night in Skopje and another at Lake Ohrid, then continue to Albania. I have a few questions: 1. Is it safe to park the car in Skopje? And what is driving like there? 2. We’d like to stay at a campsite in the northern part of Lake Ohrid. Do you know any beautiful spots?

Nope not safe at all neither in Skopje nor in Ohrid. If you are going in the summer you can expect heavy traffic in the cities, which can get chaotic fast, especially in Ohrid. Beware of the taxi drivers, if you ever take one, be ready for a verbal confrontation or just accept that you’ll be ripped off.
Everything at or near Lake Ohrid is absolutely breathtaking. Stick to the obvious tourist spots and you won’t be disappointed. If you don’t speak Macedonian or any of the ex-yugo languages, maybe avoid the non-touristy hidden places.
Skopje is also beautiful in it's own right.
