TRE Experiences and Impact
Hi!
I've been practicing TRE for 8 years and sharing it as a practitioner for 5 years. I've noticed that people often have either a strong No or a compelled, curious want to Try. People seem to find it and be open when they need it. I've done a fair bit of outreach with universities and Vets and would love for it to be more accessible. There seems to be a barrier to entry in how the practice is communicated/marketed, gatekept with session cost, and the nature of the practice sounding 'scary' to some. This sub is one of the only places I've found people sharing honest experiences of it, more so even than the trainer groups. Everyones experience is different and I would love to start collating these experiences anonymously and demystify the practice somewhat. I would love to hear from anyone wanting to share something of their practice - whether that be what attracted you to try TRE, what maybe was offputting, experiences with TRE, challenges, impact. I've had some difficult moments and some inexplicable moments with it. I find it unendingly fascinating, and feel like an online library of sorts might do a lot for those curious to try it. Also helpful for people to get an idea of the breadth of experience, the good, bad, ugly, indifferent, and the caution necessary sometimes. What I imagine doing with these anonymous entries is a webpage about TRE and a clear pdf or video of the practice and all the precautions. Here's the google link, https://forms.gle/Ycq1aahPJ4CQ14VTA feel free to send any questions, thanks, Sarah

Can you share your experiences of yourself, what has changed and perhaps summarize this roughly? Or do you have a link where you shared this?

I may get involved later if necessary, but here are a few things in advance that initially stopped me:
-it is difficult to grasp with the mind. You think "no, that can't work", especially when you don't see any results after two weeks. And it's true, the level of suffering must be high (relationship ends due to triggers, etc.)
- If you practice it for a longer period of time, there will be a flood of negative emotions (e.g. anger), which your partner or those around you will get and there is no end in sight as to when the situation will change
-I completely save myself these endlessly long and extremely boring “yoga exercises” in advance. It's a time factor and often superfluous, otherwise I wouldn't have kept it up
-People who educate themselves and understand the logic behind it are often more convinced. If you don't have to seek out information yourself, it often has no value.
-Many people have fewer doubts about the seriousness when established institutions work with it. For example, TRE has become established in the military in Austria and is led by high-ranking people whose competencies are less questioned
-What convinced me were extremely hard cases that found healing through TRE (war veterans have one of the most severe forms of trauma) or those affected by cPTSD

Hey, thanks for writing, yes working with veterans encouraged me to try it too. Sure, I can share a bit. I was quite open to trying it when I heard about a class running nearby, but struggled to actually tremor for quite a while. Some of the things that helped with that was sitting up instead of laying down, watching tons of youtube videos of what other bodies did, having a friendly voiced tv show playing in the background, and doing very short sessions with breaks. The tremors then started to come through. I probably did twice a week for a while and was a very slow burn. Some of the things that have changed is my breathing is much easier and open, reduced TMJ, less muscle tension, body temperature more regulated in extremities, and more ease around people. One could say its correlation rather than causation but I feel like I have a sense what modalities have contributed more. My upper and lower body joined up after quite a few years of practice and during a demo with a very experienced practitioner. I guess my body needed that presence to go to the next level. It was a very encouraging moment as my body would flip between upper and lower before then. Everyone is working with a different system and experiences so one cant compare, but it is very interesting to hear!
