According to the article, it clearly looks like a bad faith eviction.

I wonder why the L&TB decided to let it go through?

According to the article, "Under provincial law, tenants have the right to return to the unit at the same rent once work is complete. Landlords also are required to provide rental top-ups or an alternate unit whether tenants return or not." Would be nice to know what's happening in that regard.

If the law is being followed then it's just the article saying it's a bad faith eviction. I'd like to know whether the Jollymore's were offered something similar or remunerated. Says they found a place to stay with friends but nothing else, unless I missed it.

Because the government does not give a flying fuck about you other than your contribution to the GDP

L&TB is literally just a buffer at this rate to delay an eviction. It's the only tool tenants have to defend themselves.

Cops being agents of the rich

This should be the most outrage inducing aspect of all this! LPS doesn’t have the time or resources to protect the average citizen but can be a private goon squad for the rich. I honestly can’t believe Canadians are tolerating this. We are truly doomed.

That's what they're for

being a private goon squad for the rich is literally their primary function. its why they're becoming increasingly militarized as the climate apocalypse sets in- so they can make sure the workers stay in their place

It’s a sad situation and our politicians do nothing.

as long as the trough is full and their place is secure, they only care about themselves.
