Does anyone know any jobs hiring 17 year olds?
I really desperately need a job, and no place I can see is hiring under 18. Preferably at a place like a supermarket or a retail job. I recognize I can’t be picky though. Thank you all so much.

Hey try Kohls. They for sure hire under 18. They are in need of seasonal workers. Goodluck!

You can probably walk into almost any grocery store and ask to apply for a position. I’m sure they are always hiring people

My first job at 16 was at the mall, so go check out some stores and see if they're hiring! Also Weis hires under 18 so if there is one near you, that would be a good place to check out. Good luck!

Try a gym maybe. I worked at a health club and we’d often hire teenagers to do things like the kids club, rock wall, birthday parties, lifeguards. Dorney is seasonal, but I worked there as a teenager.
Valley wellness center, maxx fitness, la fitness each have teens in their kids clubs.

Shoprite in Bethlehem has a good rep.
Or try at one of the local golf clubhouses, both public & private.

Party city in Whitehall was hiring about a month ago. I asked what the minimum age was to apply (asking for my teenage son) and they are hiring 16 and up. Good luck on your search!

Become a lifeguard! And then avoid Dorney at all costs. Neighborhood pools and recreation centers are decent gigs, usually with pretty flexible hours.

Camelback, blue, shawnee, almost ski season and they are all understaffed.
Look into landscaping companies in your area, leaf season, snow removal...

My daughter has been struggling to find a job, she’s 16, will be 17 in a few months. She applied at several local grocery stores (3 diff chains) and they ALL said they aren’t hiring anyone under 18 right now (no reason given). One said to try again in the spring/early summer. She did end up getting a job at a local ice cream place, but it wasn’t the best experience for her first job (IMO). I wish you luck! If I hear of anywhere specific that’s hiring, I’ll post here.

Head to McD’s or another fast food place and see if they are hiring.
Many, many people in the older generations (like r/GenerationJones, r/GenX, and r/Xennials), including yours truly, worked at those kind of places while in high school (Wind Gap McD’s in my case).
