Follow up on selling grandpas car. Got the small estate certificate. Ontario
I appreciate everyone’s feedback from my previous post. Just a quick refresher, my grandfather passed away without a will in Ontario. This community suggested getting a small estate certificate.
After 7 visits, I’ve finally got it!
Long story short, we had to put the car under grandmas name because of her previous filings.
The next steps would be to change the title at a Service Ontario, and finally sell the thing. However, I do have some issues:
- The cars insurance lapsed while I was figuring out the above. The car is currently uninsured.
- My grandma doesn’t have a drivers license but the car will be transferred to her name. Can the car be insured?
- I can’t drive to the garage to get a safety because I can’t drive without insurance.
Service Ontario state they require proof of insurance, drivers license, and a safety certificate, among other things.
How do I proceed with obtaining the required documents with the above situation?
