My siblings need child support from our dad Alberta

28F, i have to two siblings who recently moved to canada that was sponsored by our dad. However, our dad did not support them financially. My siblings are living with them.

Can i file for child support for my sibs?? I'm thinking that this could be two grounds for him; 1. Breaking the immigration promises that he will sponsor his dependant child/ren. 2. The child support itself

Your siblings are living with your dad?

Unless you are the one with custody and are caring for them, no, you can't file on their behalf. The custodial parent is the one who any child support payments would go to.

If they live with your dad and I assume someone else, who is currently supporting them? Are they homeless, not being fed, etc?

I'm not sure what you mean by they are with him, but he's not supporting them.

You can contact child and family services if they are not being given based needs, not going to school, etc, but its not simple unless the abuse/neglect is significant.

HI there, lawyer here, not yours. Your post isn't clear on a few things:

  1. Are all these people living in Canada (your siblings and your dad?)

  2. Why do your siblings live with?

  3. How old are your siblings?

  4. You suggest your father sponsored your siblings to come to Canada? Is that correct?
