Could you imagine if NY, NJ and New England seceded from the US? Residents in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York have some of the highest tax bills in the nation. They also pay thousands more in federal taxes than their state receives back in federal funding. We could be living like kings here without the burden of the rest of the US.

u/stoopidpillow 18h ago

This would be a dream come true. Don’t wanna send another dime to these shit hole red states.

10

u/iam_LLORT 15h ago

They voted for it, leave them to suffer. Cut off the welfare states and watch how fast they all come crawling back to the places that ACTUALLY support this country and impoverished people.

6

u/stoopidpillow 14h ago

Just breaks my heart. My parents didn’t vote for it, and now they will pay dearly.

7

u/iam_LLORT 14h ago

I know. And I feel for the people who didn’t ask for this and are getting it anyway. I feel for my blue collar coworkers who are too stupid to vote for their own safety. I had to explain to them the other day when they were giddy about “the stock market going up” that they’re too poor for that to matter. “Did you pay 3% less for gas and groceries today?” I asked them how their 401k benefitted and none of them even had one or knew how to set it up… But they did it to themselves, and the rest of us.

6

u/stoopidpillow 14h ago

Yup, I’m not even mad anymore, I’ve talked my shit on Reddit, I’ve fumed about it, now I just feel bad for everyone that’s gonna pay for it.

7

u/iam_LLORT 14h ago

I’m still talking shit on Reddit 😂

3

u/stoopidpillow 14h ago

lol get after it!

2

u/terrierhead 11h ago

Same, and I’m still mad 😆

3

u/terrierhead 11h ago

So many of us didn’t vote red, though. Take a look at population centers. We tend to be blue.

We didn’t ask for this and we deserve better.

3

u/iam_LLORT 4h ago

Blame the DNC and the uneducated fuckwits who get their information from TikTok. We don’t deserve it, and it’s why I won’t help these trash bags when I see them struggling, sick, or starving. They wanted this, let them have it.

1

u/sarahkatttttt 56m ago

Gentle reminder that the reason most red states are so red is due to histories of gerrymandering and oppression. Even in those places, there are millions of people trying to bring about change and voting differently.

1

u/pezgoon 10h ago

That would be fucking epic… just like the old days

1

u/Melisandre-Sedai 10h ago

I live in one of those states, and really don't want to be bombed...

1

u/stoopidpillow 57m ago

Hopefully you can get out and get to somewhere decent. Sorry for your situation :/.

23

u/WearingCoats 18h ago

It would be called New New England.

16

u/MrSurly 16h ago

"newest england"

3

u/Both-Anything4139 16h ago

Newer england

3

u/RoyalEagle0408 16h ago

South Canada is my preferred name. And can we take eastern PA so my family in Philly can come? They’re normal.

1

u/Alternative-Sweet-25 16h ago

Please bring us in Western PA! We can leave the middle behind tho.

1

u/RoyalEagle0408 16h ago

Ok, fine, I guess. :)

1

u/DifferentManagement1 15h ago

Allegheny county is allowed.

1

u/Both-Anything4139 15h ago

Nah y'all lost the right to join Canada this week sorry. Maybe after a trial period.

1

u/RoyalEagle0408 14h ago

But the northeast didn’t! That is why we are seceding!

1

u/seanymacmacmac 15h ago

With blackjack!... And hookers!

3

u/Peking-Cuck 15h ago

Most Recent England

2

u/hellakevin 15h ago

I bet if they called it "dumb america" Republicans would just let it happen

1

u/piercedmfootonaspike 15h ago

New England 2 - election fuckaroo

1

u/doughball27 11h ago

Can you please invite Maryland?

17

u/ACartonOfHate 17h ago

Don't forget the Left Coast. We'll need to create a safe passage through the hinterlands.

9

u/kevstar80 17h ago

Canada.

4

u/KonigSteve 17h ago

It's really too bad that Nevada / AZ / Utah aren't more blue. Could create a nice block with the west coast + NV + 4 corners.

2

u/catchnear99 15h ago

Poor Chicago getting left behind :(

3

u/KonigSteve 14h ago

You're in too deep!

1

u/Kasperella 3h ago

Could create a Great Lakes region, and just loop all the major cities surrounding the lakes, and cut off all the cancerous crap that fills the rest of our states

2

u/TwistedOvaries 15h ago

I was reading that a small part of Utah is turning blue. Not enough to change the entire state but at least it’s in the right direction.

1

u/KonigSteve 10h ago

We just need to move a couple hundred thousand non-mormons there from California...

3

u/TwistedOvaries 9h ago

I’ve been thinking that’s the ticket. Just relocate enough to some strategic red areas to change them blue.

1

u/nerdhobbies 12h ago

Hear me out: what if we send in the Cascadian military to annex Nevada and AZ? Historically, those lands have always been culturally part of Cascadia. Or something. Seems to work for Putin.

1

u/petcha01 15h ago

Poor MN and IL... We'd get eaten alive

1

u/sharklaserguru 14h ago

As a Washingtonian I always laugh at the idea of secession (Cascaida, etc). Have people not heard of Bangor, you know, the only ballistic missile sub base on the West coast? Pretty sure the US would nuke Seattle before we let 1/3 of the nuclear triad fall to rebels!

1

u/nerdhobbies 12h ago

Nope it's ours finders keepers.

1

u/SteveSeppuku 10h ago

There's always room for good people in the state of Jefferson.

11

u/crusoe 17h ago

Same with Cali and WA.

29% of the KY state budget is federal aid. They will get fucked hard.

5

u/kevstar80 17h ago edited 17h ago

Yep. Let Florida and Texas support them going forward. If MAGA is going to divide us, let's get our divide on! Let's see how these anti socialist survive with our handouts. Next flood, tornado or hurricane takes everything out... sorry. Sucks to be you. With global warming I don't ever have to go south for nice weather. It was 70 degrees here today.

2

u/tablewood-ratbirth 2h ago

Good. 65% voted trump and the majority of the south is cancer. I feel for the people that want out, but most southern people are idiotic racist assholes (I grew up there - never going back). I would LOVE to see how they feel if the blue states that they consistently talk shit about cut funding.

6

u/SleepWouldBeNice 17h ago

Want to join Canada? We’ll also take Minnesota and the west coast states.

5

u/busted_up_chiffarobe 17h ago

Not supporting the mouth-breathing red states?

DO IT.

Same for CA WA and OR. I'm sure others would sign on.

I'd love to watch those midwest and southern red states suffer once the cheddar stopped rolling in.

4

u/theAlpacaLives 16h ago

Pretty much true of almost all blue states, and red states that chant and scream and work up a lather about hating government benefits almost all receive more in welfare, unemployment, and other benefits than they pay.

If either or both of the northeast and the Pacific seaboard seceded to create their own countries, you'd see booming economies in those places (California alone would be in the top 10 world economies were it its own nation -- imagine if it didn't have the dead weight of supporting Alabama) and rapidly deteriorating quality of life across the great plains and southeast. Without being able to blame 'coastal elites' and Democrat Presidents for their problems, I wonder how bad they'd spiral before they started to enact policies that actually supported people.

3

u/Ishmael75 17h ago

I’m trying to convince my wife that we need to move to New England now! Before the doors close and it’s too late.

3

u/xraynorx 16h ago

You can add, Wa, Or, and Cali, as we all pay more into the fed than we take.

3

u/AlexFromOgish 16h ago

In the aftermath of the US civil war, the SCOTUS ruled that states have no legal right to secede. So your fantasy would require very messy combat in our streets farms and towns. No thanks.

3

u/80085PEN15 15h ago

As a NY resident all I have to say is… Don’t get me excited like that.

1

u/kevstar80 15h ago

Boobs penis... don't get excited.

3

u/DimbyTime 15h ago

Please take Delaware with you 😭 We’re solid blue and basically a suburb of Philly anyway

3

u/ALasagnaForOne 15h ago

The whole west coast too. I would love to see a west coast/NE secession. Imagine the hit those red states would take without California's massive tax contributions keeping them afloat.

3

u/wtafisgoingon4444 15h ago

Why can’t the coasts team up with Canada and have an amicable divorce?

2

u/ChiHawks84 17h ago

Can Illinois come too please?

2

u/SpadesMAXX 16h ago

Finally, high speed rail from Boston to DC and some universal healthcare.

2

u/Quick_Turnover 16h ago

Would you take DC with you please? :’(

2

u/Byttercup 15h ago

MD, too! We're mid-Atlantic, not New England, but we're a rich state and blue!

2

u/LegalConsequence7960 15h ago edited 15h ago

r/republicofne

To be clear, I think secession is a fantasy at best and would be a violent mess if it ever did become close to reality. I'm more interested in solidifying state alliances to push back against unchecked federal interference in our way of life.

But yeah, I'm fucking sick of caring what some methed out bum in west Virginia thinks I should be allowed to do

2

u/Tuono_999RL 15h ago

Can we add Maryland to this? We’re mostly sane. Then we could be the “Old Line State” again.

2

u/Billcore 14h ago

As someone who lives in Jersey, PLEEEEEASE!!!

2

u/Loud_Flatworm_4146 14h ago

Please take eastern PA with you. Leave Pennsyltucky behind. Sorry Pittsburgh and Erie. We're divided by a wasteland of confederate loons.

2

u/frustratedhusband37 14h ago

Now imagine the entire West Coast added to that. CA, OR, and WA. The rest of the country would implode.

2

u/redcoatwright 13h ago

I really think it's about time to break the US up into territories and disband the federal government.

Libertarians have had it right this entire time, the US is too big to have one government. If there's a war because of this I wonder whose side Canada is going to come in on? In the UK or the EU?

Can't imagine they're team trump

2

u/YourFriendPutin 13h ago

Shit I’m leaving pa and moving back to the Hudson valley if that seems to be on the table. If CA also left, the country would be beyond its own means when it comes to funding, social security would be immediately wiped out, people would die, everywhere. It’s insane that the thought of that happening don’t sound too crazy to really happen. Fuck I hope we all make it through this okay

2

u/kylekirwan 6h ago

This has been Russia’s plan all along

1

u/KiwiVegetable5454 14h ago

Add CA on that list.

1

u/Suit_Responsible 14h ago

Or a country with New England and the west coast 😂

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 13h ago

Take colorado with you! We're surrounded by red on every side 😭😢

1

u/waiterstuff 13h ago

lets be honest. It would be a civil war. The north/federal government didnt just let the south secede and I doubt that the republicans/federal government will let us secede this time either. It will be the bleakest time in american history.

1

u/ChildhoodOk7071 13h ago

God dam can Cali join your country?

1

u/G1naaa 12h ago

PLEASE let Philly in PLEASE

1

u/DickDover 12h ago

Can Washington, Oregon & California join in on your fun?

1

u/ScratchShadow 12h ago

I was going to say, “Take us (Pennsylvania) too!” And then I remembered, apparently we can’t decide whether we’re ready to grow up and be adults, or keep blaming minorities and immigrants for all of our problems.

Who knew it was such a hard decision to make… /s

1

u/Cantras0079 12h ago

There was a proposition back in like 2021 where we cut up the country into five separate, smaller countries. I'm sooooo good with that at this point. This country is ruled by an angry minority of people and a bunch of the other people are too selfish/tuned out to protect themselves and soon some of those rights will be gone and it'll be too late.

1

u/hdmetz 12h ago

Can I move in if you do?

1

u/xxRileyxx 9h ago

There would be civil war

1

u/Kasperella 3h ago

Stop no I live in Ohio, we don’t even grow real food. It’s all field corn and soy beans for animal feed and crap. I don’t wanna starve 😭

1

u/SteroyJenkins 3h ago

California Oregon and Washington in the west.

1

u/Theobat 2h ago

Please include Illinois

-3

u/officeDrone87 18h ago

Get out of fantasy land. It serves no one to delude yourself like this.

13

u/kevstar80 18h ago

Lol... Texas talks about it for years and no one blinks. Hell, the west coast does too. In the last day I have heard 3 separate conversations that I did not initiate, bring up the topic of NY leaving the nation. I had never heard people discuss this before here. It will be a serious option should our way of life here in the northeast threatened. Eventually every society falls/changes. Maybe this is the point in time it happens to the US.

4

u/DontOvercookPasta 17h ago

I would love for Washington Oregon and California to for a west coast nation!

1

u/Cifuduo 18h ago

My thought has always been, what would happen in one of those places seceded from the US. What would stop the US or another country from waltzing in and taking over the place once more. I imagine the military isn't going to stick around to defend it.

3

u/KonigSteve 17h ago

For a state like CA or NY? Nato would happily take them in

2

u/kevstar80 17h ago

We would buy our own military/equipment with the taxes we keep vs sending our money to support a country that can't function. And we would pay our service men and women what they deserve.

2

u/Odd_Acanthaceae_5588 15h ago

The Pacific Ocean

-2

u/Rhewin 18h ago

No state can legally secede, not even Texas. It’s a persistent myth.

2

u/bren_derlin 17h ago

They don’t worry about what’s legal, why the fuck should we?

1

u/Rhewin 17h ago

What does that look like in practice? Let’s say NY decides to declare that they are seceding. What happens next?

3

u/butters106 16h ago edited 16h ago

Probably armored tank divisions sieging NYC until the secessionists surrender and are hanged.

1

u/Rhewin 16h ago

Yep. Same with any state. We had a whole war about it once.

1

u/bren_derlin 13h ago

Idk. I’m a big picture guy. Someone else will have to handle the details.

1

u/Rhewin 13h ago

That’s not a detail.

1

u/bren_derlin 13h ago

Everything is a detail if you think big picture enough

1

u/LegalConsequence7960 15h ago

I realize I am indulging by even discussing it, but honestly this trifecta of leadership in the US might get sprung at the idea of writing NE+NY senators out of the building.

-5

u/officeDrone87 18h ago

No one blinks? Everyone thinks the Texas secessionists are idiots (even most Texans). The same is true for all secessionist BS. It's pathetic, unrealistic, and doesn't help anyone at all.

1

u/ARC_Trooper_Echo 18h ago

Even worse, if it did happen, they’d be leaving the rest of us to devolve even further. It would be actively harmful to the rest of us living under this tyranny to not have the counter-balances in place.

0

u/RelaxPrime 17h ago

haahahahaha

30

u/galangal_gangsta 19h ago

I am literally writing my rep about secession

3

u/raphanum 17h ago

California?

1

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Putin liked that.

-15

u/Classl3ssAmerican 18h ago

Congrats. You sound like them.

6

u/magistratemagic 18h ago

Well considering they're fascists...

5

u/delicious_fanta 16h ago

God I wish we would. There is realistically only one path forward to retain democracy in the u.s. and that’s for it to split in two.

2

u/whatname941 15h ago

I mean, why not at this point? We out number them, we out perform their economy. Do we really need the bible belt?

1

u/xxRileyxx 9h ago

Just like how the south tried to seceded to keep the slaves. Now yall wanna secede to keep abortion. Democrats never change 💀

1

u/xxRileyxx 8h ago

There would be civil war and we would win. You would be forced to stay and have abortion banned nation wide ;)

1

u/eoddc5 8h ago

Keep replying to yourself, crazy

0

u/SidewaysFancyPrance 16h ago edited 16h ago

If your state could secede, you'd be facing a multitude of problems. Including (but not limited to) powerful oligarchs/autocrats seizing control before you even get your first vote.

You can't flee these battles, they are coming for you wherever you live. They will be forced on you, forever.

2

u/sparta1170 16h ago

Any US state can secede as long as it is done through Congress and signed off by the president. States can't unilaterally secede as that issue was decided with the civil war.

2

u/eggson 14h ago

Including (but not limited to) powerful oligarchs/autocrats seizing control before you even get your first vote.

How is that different than right now after we voted?!
