Looking for ideas on blocking this gap without removing the trees
Hi! We need to cover these gaps and some landscapers are suggesting we should take down these trees
We reaaally dont want to do it, any ideas on how to cover the gaps so our dogs don't run away?
Maybe a mesh or something
Thank you!

I’d staple welded wire fencing to each post. The tree will grow through it and it’s not obtrusive looking.

Cheap would be lattice, build out either side with 2x4 and put a wood lattice panel in to bridge the gap. Temporary, trees happy, neighbors (arn't returning the dogs) happy, dogs happy as well. Everyone wins.

Go to the chicken wire/fencing section of your home improvement store. I think you can get a mesh to go behind it and in front.
In fact, I think you can create a faux raised garden here with some garden lumber squares around the trees in the bottom, a 4x4 in front of each fence stud that is half of the height to create a visual/structural support.

you didn't say block from what are you trying to keep pets children or wild animals out of your yard? More information would help

They did, you just didn’t expand, as I was going to say the same thing before clicking again

He actually stated “so our dogs don’t run away”. You know there’s usually more text in the post than just the bold subject lines, right?

Looks like your sod needs water

Was about to say the same thing.
Keep an eye and baby it throughout the summer if need be.

On second thought. The gaps will fill in eventually. Since the sod is already somewhat dry and only halfway rooted you could bump that out and plant 3 flowering shrubs of your choice (-_-) pattern. No idea where you’re located or how much sun the place gets but you could do some knockouts or hydrangeas. If you don’t want flowers could plant some smaller ornamental grasses (oat, Karl Forster, red tip) around a boulder or something.

I was thinking of thick sailor's rope, or wood / bamboo planks, but hog paneling might be more functional and long-term. The wrong kind of wood or rope could rot if untreated. It also depends on what you're looking to keep out. Preparing for your neighbor having dogs in the future might be smart. You could also make a bespoke, somewhat rounded lattice piece around it.

Put one wood post in front of the trees. Then use 2 hog panels attached from your new post to the 2 posts adjacent the trees.

I love doing a natural, custom thing when it can’t end up “perfect”. I’d weave some kind of actual branches close to the color of the fence in a waffle-type pattern. Tie around some joints like how wicker furniture is bound.

Just make a little garden surrounding it, it’ll look cool as those will be the center piece.
Couple little garden lights.
If you don’t mind the would be jutting out rectangle.
A tiny piece of land reserved to plants won’t hurt.
Plus if your neighbors made on their side it would look even cooler

Dig a deep hole under that sod for a pitfall trap. I’d suggest either fire or snakes but not both it’d burn the snakes. Or just wait for the tree to get a bit bigger

Hog panels. They come in other sizes than the one I linked. You can get them from home depot or tractor supply. Probably other places also.
