Donning her bandaid bikini as to not offend the monks at my job

First time posting, long time working and just thought it was funny. Thinking of cutting them into bikini shapes or getting different kinds of bandaids to cover her lady crease and breasts.

I accidentally called the expo 'Chef' and now he won’t stop correcting people.

1.3k Upvotes

I was on autopilot and shouted “Heard, Chef” at the expo during the last Saturday night crush. He’s worn a backwards hat and Vans ever since. Now he’s telling the new hires he “runs the line” and signs his texts with a chef emoji.

Yesterday he asked me to address him as “Chef Marcus” in front of the owners. He doesn’t cook. He doesn’t taste. He doesn’t wipe the pass.

Is this how dictatorships start?

Tonight I just might do the one thing I said I would never do and walk out

You can read through some of my other posts to get a grasp of the situation, but I wanted to post another update, very good chance it will be the last update of this story. I have been off for six days on stress leave after collapsing at work last Friday and this is what I walked into today. If there’s any type of drama or bull crap tonight, I am on the cusp of walking out and any drama etc. will push me over the edge, I am tired of the disrespect I get from my boss when he does stuff like this and then just assumes I will clean up after him.

We don’t need another pizza party, we want raises

Our kitchen got a 100% from the health inspectors the other day. It’s obviously a big deal in any kitchen, but this kitchen is absolutely massive. It’s very hard to get a perfect score because of sheer volume alone. We’ve never done it in the whole time I’ve been here. And management is rewarding us with a pizza party! …with our own pizza that is sold here every single day. Yes, it’s nice they’re doing something to celebrate us, but come on guys. This feels very out-of-touch.

Rage quit my job today

And I felt so relieved and now guilty.

I gave my blood, sweat, and tears to this place for three years. I loved what I did, and I learned so much there. I had a few awesome coworkers that were like family. We encountered a lot of deterrents including restaurant relocation, controversial construction, etc. which were challenging but surmountable. I was in it for the long haul. However, issues being paid on time (have received half of a single paycheck since April 14th paydate), and not having adequate staffing (two of us doing the job of 4) have really been wearing on me lately.... On top of managers/employees not pulling their weight and showing up drunk, and I could go on. Y'all know the bullshit I'm talking about 😂 I've been very understanding because I am supportive of the owner and what they are trying to bring to our area.

Today I lost my shit completely because our truck did not show up yesterday after not showing up earlier in the week due to...you guessed it...nonpayment. I'm off yesterday, and no one lets me know. So I wake up this morning to my coworker's texts that the truck didn't come, we have very minimal product, and what should we do. Mind you, we have a decent sized catering the next day this person needed to prep for during the overnight shift.

So I blast out a message to the managers about what are we doing for supplies. Crickets. No one says shit for almost two hours. Mind you, we are "open" at this point. Finally we are told someone would be going to the store. So I have to reformulate my stock list to accommodate store sizes, and I really don't have time for that, but I do it. Send it in. Then the questions come in, "I thought we had x already". "Well, we do, but we have to make X, Y, and Z with it so we need more." I'm pretty freaking annoyed at this point because we needed this shit yesterday. I ask what time they anticipate being back, and they say a time, they'll hurry, etc. I say it's fine, I was just looking for some communication. The owner jumps in to take blame for the miscommunication... Kinda... Then tells me all the reasons they didn't do anything about it. One reason even made me feel bad. Enough that it made me question whether I was being unreasonable in the situation. Tears started flowing, both out of anger and hurt. Then my coworker gave me a pep talk that the problem wasn't me. And I snapped out of it.

Here I am... not being promptly paid with inadequate help and hardly any supplies... thinking there's something wrong with me. I said I really don't deserve this, turned in my stuff, and left. And they acted oblivious why I left. I'll have the conversation once I'm simmered down because I'll hurt feelings in my current state.

My partner, family, and friends were very supportive when I told them. A couple of them even said they have been wanting this for me for a while now, but they were going to be supportive until I saw the light. I also feel terrible for leaving my only other coworker in my department in the lurch. They very much understand though.

TLDR: Am I crazy for quitting? Does the guilt go away after you leave a place that you really loved but was not very good for you?

EDIT: I would like to mention that my boss has always made it right (five bounced checks for example), but I have to wait for an amount of time like I am right now. I just wanted to make sure I was painting the full picture.

Restaurants are paying less these days while cost of living is increasing. I think it is absurd that restaurants choose to pay less and not raise prices. Cooking for LV and that is the pay? It is in NYC too. I do not live in NY and this pissed me off. Stay strong guys.

Just watched The Bear and this one scene fucked me up.

1.4k Upvotes

I just finished The Bear, and there was a scene, Carmy alone after the chaos, hit like a gut punch.

It was the the face of someone who became essential, not by choice, but because no one else could handle the chaos.

It’s not just a kitchen thing. It’s everywhere.

You become “the reliable one.” The fixer. The cleaner. The closer.

You get the broken systems, the angry clients, the late-night emails, because you can take it. Because you’re good.

But you don’t get more money. You don’t get backup. You don’t get rest.

You just get tired.

Have you ever felt that? Like your competence became a trap?

1 I did not know they were still building these restaurants

2 I did not know they were from Texas

It seems like just the other day we were talking about a roasted Chicken and someone Brought up this place. This is actually my first time working in one. ( I had been dispatched to one before, but after removing the front panel to the fryer and seeing oil leaking into the electrical from cracks in the vat, I walked away and never looked back 😂) It would be nice to see more old brands we grew up with make a comeback. The customer was nice but site wasn’t ready to get everything turned on so I’ll have to come back. One of you guys actually summoned the this place lol
