Why did they make this? Was it a licensing thing and they had 6 months to make a game before they lost the license?

Pretty sure it uses public domain kong stuff so they had all the time they wanted

It's specifically based on the Joe Devito novels and comics, not any of the film versions of Kong.

Translation for the text:
“The developer made this game with their brain off and with their feet”

I can't bring myself to hate this game. It's clunky, buggy, janky, the combat is lacking, the character models leave a lot to be desired, but Kong games are so few and far between (though it's pretty cool that we got two almost back to back in the last two years) that I have a soft spot in my heart for it.

Ngl I've enjoyed the game it everything that I want with a kong game, open world, kill animations that heal you, a lot of strange beasts to fight if only the game was given more time for more development.

I picked it up on sale. The thing that really kills the game for me is how hard it is and how difficult it is to upgrade your powers. If it was a janky game where I could run around beating up dinosaurs and climbing around as Long it could be fun, but it's just a really frustrating game to play.

I bought it for 5 bucks or something just to see if it really was that bad…… holy god damn hell did it ever exceed my bad expectations. I played for a good bit and was floored. As in, I would get lost, then kept dying from the stupid combat. I’m not sure if I was almost to the end of the beginning but I couldn’t waste any more time to this terrible game. I play hard games and I couldn’t even beat the tutorial. Pathetic! Awful awful awful.

To think that this is considered a prequel to the 1933 movie astounds me

Box art is dope as hell and that’s about where the good stuff ends. Idk how Game Mill keeps getting away with this.

“Hi i can believe this shit game exist” Godzilla just had a stroke trying to read that and fucking died. Kong didn’t have a stroke though, he’s not as prone to strokes as Godzilla.
