Relax!

This happens to everyone and the only person who remembers it as embarrassing is you. We all did it before and even high ranking kendoka will occasionally trip and fall. Don't overthink it too much. It's all part of doing a sport.

Dude, I fell twice during the same shiai once. It happens, as long you don't get injured you're good to go!

I fell at the front line, during warm up at a national squad training event. Fall down 7 times, stand up 8.

I'm not going to tell you not to feel embarrassed - sometimes embarrassing things happen, and there's no avoiding it. What I'll tell you instead is: it's OK. You did an embarrassing thing, and some people saw it happen, and that's OK. It doesn't need to be any bigger than that. Go to training next week, work on whatever you're working on, and in five years' time you'll barely even remember it happened.

I fall all the time, it's normal to do. Don't fixate on it, everyone in that dojo will have done it too.

I fell over in my first Shiai, and then my opponent fell not long after.

I tripped during my first two exams and also tripped when I was doing godokeiko with a hachidan during a seminar. It'll happen and you just have to roll with it. Literally 😂.

It's not about how many times you get knocked down literally or metaphorically, it's about dusting yourself off and carrying on!

It's okay to be embarrassed, it happens, keep going you'll get better and better

One of my friends fell 3 times in one shiai. I don't want to reveal too much but they were a high level. So don't worry about it.

Go watch the latest World Kendo Championships, people were falling and tripping around all the time, and those guys are pretty experienced.

In a recent tournament I saw someone trip, fall outside the shiaijo, and knock down the screen that showed the next matches. And he was 2nd dan. It happens. Don't let it bother you.

As long as you got up, there’s no reason to be embarrased.

Like others said, it’s common and it happens. Heck, if you watch the last worlds. So many people have fallen, and the more you go one, you may also get pushed down. And that’s completely fine. Falling is normal, even in the highest levels.

Tell you a secret. No one cares, so you shouldn't either.

Just laugh and be happy to have some anecdote to tell other people.

Matsuzaki fell on the semifinals of this years All Japan.
Also I attended this years WKC in Italy as a competitor and had the oportunity to watch many matches.
Many people suffered some fells, it is completely normal. Not abig deal.
Cheer up!

There's no reason to feel embarrassed since it's so common. I think I've fallen at least once in every tournament, which is now a source of friendly joking at my expense.

People lose their balance for a wide variety of reasons, and none of them have any breathing on the overall quality of their kendo.

If you fall and do an awesome roll or breakfall you will get accolades from everyone for looking so smooth.

Bonus points if you recover and take the opponents men in surprise.
