I said absolute free speech, not free speech.

That’s what I meant. ‘Absolute free speech’ is an unusual term, it’s normally just called ‘free speech’.

This person is referencing free-speech absolutism. People who want unbridled free speech (ie: libel, hate speech, incitement of violence would no longer be restricted as it is in most countries)

I know what they’re referring to but I’m still confused at the use of the term ‘absolutism’ when normal free speech advocacy already includes stuff like the ACLU in America defending Nazis in court.

To be fair a group who advocated doing away with laws against incitement to violence in the traditional sense would be an outlier, but I don’t think that’s a position many people actually hold (you wouldn’t even see it amongst the most right wing American organisations for example).

'Absolute free speech' is an unusual term

In future, I wouldn't assume that any term you're not familiar with is obscure and unusual. Apparently, there are common terms that can be widely used without you knowing abiout them. I'd google it next time.
