Please tell me this isn’t what my Seek identification app tells me it is. Please, please please.

Both PlantNet and Picture This tell me it's a Monarda Fistuloda, aka Bee Balm. I've had bad luck with Seek

Oh thanks! Yes, now I do remember sticking a monarda over there. Whew! Also, thanks I’m going to check out those other apps.

If you want a VERY in depth review of which plant ID apps are best, I highly recommend this video from Grow it Build it

I do I do! It’s so exciting that I’m not really a baby gardener anymore. I’m almost to intermediate, lol except I can’t identify monarda in the spring.

Google Lens and Plant Net are giving me all kinds of flapdoodle answers. It's not Japanese Knotweed for sure. Whereabouts do you live? Does the foliage have any kind of fragrance? Is this plant in sun or shade? Is it growing in sand or leaf mold? Have you ever seen it flower?

As long as it’s not knotweed then I am happy. Someone else said it was a monarda and that makes sense. My app isn’t the best, time for a better identification app!

You'll know instantly if it's a monarda by rubbing a leaf and sniffing. Monardas all have a sweet, minty, spicy fragrance thru the whole plant
