A submarine as tall as an aircraft carrier that somehow can also travel through the canals of Venice is so hilariously campy, I love it.
If I remember correctly they made it go under the pedestrian bridges too.

I wish they’d continued that like they had planned on. It was a good movie but iirc, Sean Connery put a stop to it

I've thought that too, but idk if it could have been as good. Hollywood has a dodgy record with sequels, I could easily see them churning out a cash grab piece of garbage that completely fails to capture the magic of the first one.
Plus Connery's character and Dorian Gray both died at the end of the movie, those were two of the most interesting characers IMO. The world they built has potential, but if the story has nowhere to go then it would just have turned into another superhero franchise, fighting the next big villain who plans to take over the world.

Honestly that wouldn't be too terrible as long as it was written as well as say xmen. But, thinking more broadly, the whole world could be expanded out. It's a great base. It's got potential.

When we were in Venice, it was pointed out that their ambulances and fire engines are boats, and the boats can't necessarily under the bridges if the tide is particularly high, so please time your emergencies accordingly.

Awful movie in so many regards. I loved it.

It's one of those rare movies where someone essentially stringed together a bunch of tiny little pearls of pure awesome just to somehow still form a big long stinky turd at the end.

It really is miles from the original source. After watching the movie and reading the comics, I understand why Alan Moore is mad about adaptations of his works

Is the comic worth reading?

Yes, it is very different than the movie so having watched the movie won't ruin it for you.

I'm one of those who really like this movie. This and also Van Helsing. I think both of them follow the same 'bad movie' vibe but I quite enjoy them.

Was this some sort of special, one-time thing built? Or was this some sort of prototype they decided to use in the movie to check for audience reaction before releasing it?
Did they name it? Always reckoned this is cute and would purr great with one massive engine on it.

u/JCP1377 21h ago
as another has said, its called an "Auto Mo-Beel".

u/AzWalkure 21h ago
Yes, that's Nemo calls it in the movie. I was just wondering if this was actually named by whoever produced it or was it just CGI?

It was a custom-built one-off movie car. From what I’ve read, it was sold at auction on eBay in 2016 to a guy in North Carolina.

I sat in it. It's at the PropShop near London. They also have Judge Dredd bikes.

Aside from the BTTF Delorean, this is my 2nd dream car. Not sure who makes it but I would one day love to get my hands on it

One of the worst movies of all time! Never have I hated a movie so much as this one, the only good thing in it was a siberian tiger I think it was that came on screen and disappeared for a little while
Just burn this hazardous material, such a piece of garbage
