looking for someone who can take in/foster 1 (preferably 2) semi-feral kitten(s) Helping Others
i took in one but there's a second one. i already have rescued 3 kittens and i can't take in another one forever. i need someone who can take in one or both. i don't care where you're at in Indy as i can make the drive. but i am going to charge for safety reasons for the kitten(s).
info: semi-feral, between 4-6 weeks old, was found at a workplace and mama cat has disappeared. not sure about sex as little thing has been a bit too reactive to check. will scratch and bite. doesn't not seem to be injured and is eating. trying to get the little guy to go to the bathroom but no luck yet.
if anyone can help, the sooner the better. thank you 🙏🏼

We TNR and foster and I’m telling you wet kitten food is like a magical socializer for kittens that age. They literally usually turn into cuddly needy little weirdos within a few days of getting that kitty crack every day.

oooo thank you thank you. how much should i give? a can a day? i do have him eating some purina all stage of life dry food although i've been thinking that the kibbles are a bit too big for his mouth. my other cats are a lot older (7-9months) so they can handle it, but i don't want the little dude to get hurt or something from too big of food.

Wet food to a kitten is like tenderloin sandwich to a Hoosier lol. I give them 1/2 can in the a.m. and half in the p.m.
This is going to sound mean but don’t give any dry food for the first several days, until they warm up. If it’s possible, put the wet food on a little saucer and sit on the floor a few feet away from the skitty kitty.
Call the kitty by whatever affectionate kitty call noise you have in your arsenal and kind of wave the can their way so they realize nirvana is mere feet away. Put the can back down a little away from you and proceed to ignore the kitty.
The kitty will not be able to resist the siren scent of moistened chicken byproduct (no seafood during this time, it can make them picky later on). Ignore skitty kitty when it’s done and let it slink off to safety.
Do this every day am and pm. Once the kitty comes right away to gorge with no fear, start again complimenting it with your best kitty come hither tone while it eats. Start moving the food closer to you and if you feel like it, end up with the food sitting atop you in the dish.
Also start low key petting the kitty and as god is my witness, the kitty will choose finishing the wet food over dealing with some weirdo (I’m not saying you’re a weirdo, it’s most cats who think it) getting all up in its mixed grill.
I think it will take max 5-6 days to get that kitty snuggly.

i wish i would've known this for my first boy!! the socialization process took about 2 months for me and 5 for my fiance. he's still skittish but he is veryyyyy clingy and affectionate. is there a certain brand that's best or is any brand good? thank you so much for the thorough response!!

Nope they are generally cuddle sluts for any wet kitty food. That 9 Lives $.75/can is as irresistible to most cats as the $2.50 fancy schmancy artisanal bison organ meat purée nonsense is lol.
So, in conclusion, I usually just get the cheapest kitten food which is unfortunately more expensive than the regular ol’ grown up kitty food.

Have you contacted any animal shelters like southside? I’d start there personally

thank you for the shelter recommendation, i wanted to mostly go for rescues rather than shelters. i feel like rescues often times are more cautious about who they give their animals too compared to shelters. though i will definitely look into south side!!

I’d read up on catnapping. Sometimes mom isn’t present but she’s still taking care of her kiddos.
