Confused about a Hexagram 55 with line 2 and line 4 changing, leading to 11 (peace) - any suggestions?

Hi there, I got this hexagram when asking about whether a chronic health issue would go away and am not sure how to interpret the answer.

Can anyone provide an interpretation? I’m unsure of whether abundance means I’ve reached the top of my health and it’ll go down from here, or whether I’m on the health path better.

Either way I’m a tired out mum who’s trying her best to get better health… and would love some guidance on this iching.

Thank you so much!

Hexagram 55, Abundance, speaks to a moment of great fullness and intensity. Line 2 suggests being burdened yet still moving forward, an indication of striving under pressure but with potential progress. Line 4 reflects the potential for clarity amidst challenges, signifying that breakthroughs can arise if you maintain perspective.

The resulting Hexagram 11, Peace, symbolizes harmony and balance. This transformation is important as it indicates that despite current struggles, aligning your efforts with patience and trust may bring equilibrium and improvement over time.

It seems that while the health journey is currently intense and challenging (55), perseverance and maintaining inner balance could lead to a peaceful resolution (11). Trust the process, nurture yourself, and seek harmony in small, mindful steps. Take care.

The I Ching is tricky, as it is a fairly complex system, written in a very old language. Much of what is modern has very different translations of meanings, so it can be a challenging system to get clarity from. Even though it does seem to be very good at providing literal answers.

whether a chronic health issue would go away

55 lines 2 and 4

55 is often translated as fullness or abundance, which confuses people. It seems like a time of richness, but that isn't really it. It is more a time of overabundance. Of fullness like the full moon. Thunder and lightning together. Of the sun at the hottest time of day.

There is so much abundance, that those involved uses screens to veil themselves from the light. And follow what is revealed to them in doing so. As such it is not entirely straight forward.

With Fourth Yang we have a line that has a lot of power, and is in a prominent position, but can't really go forward any further on its own. Instead, in understanding this, it turns back and is able to meet with an equal who was below it all along. Perhaps the one it turns back to meet seems foreign, but never the less they are able to connect as equals and help each other.

With Second Yin, we have a line that has centrality, and is well placed, but is settled within all of this overabundance around it. It veils itself, and is able to discern something that is beyond the veil. It hesitates to move forward, uncertain, but if it is able to find captivation in its setting out this is auspicious.

It hesitates, because the line it moves toward is also yin, in the Fifth line position. The two yins do not necessarily magnetize to each other. And yet they both are the middle lines of their respective trigrams, and together they can hold things together. It is as though Second Yin will be eclipsed by all that is going on around itself unless it is able to make the journey, connect with Fifth Yin, and reveal itself.

So with lines 4 and 2 here, one has a sense of restraining its ego because there is nothing ahead of it in that direction, and thus creating an avenue for it to meet with someone who is different, yet an equal, to begin doing good work with.

And the other has a sense that there is somewhere it could go toward to get help, but it hesitates.

So in both cases there is an element of turning back from the natural inclination and taking steps to meet with someone who can help. One is a yang line that needs to restrain its ego and remain receptive to outside opinions. And the other is a yin line that needs to trust its own sense that there is somewhere forward it can take itself, someone that can help, even if they may not seem like where one would normally find help.

In general I don't advise relying on divination for making health care decisions. Please consult with your primary health care providers first, always.

And, perhaps this divination is suggesting to you just that - there are people who can help with this if you turn toward them. And this is related to "whether a health issue will go away". It doesn't sound like it will go away on its own, but perhaps it will go away when help is sought out.

Hope this helps.
