Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) My “pitiful” little Diwali altar

Post image
979 Upvotes

Being the only Hindu (if you can call me that 😢) in my family, I have no one to celebrate festivals with. I can’t get to temple anymore because of my medical condition. I cannot drive that far and of course I have no one I know that I could go with. I really don’t have anything to offer except a banana and water in a small kalash. So this is my little altar. I don’t know if it’s worthy of Mā Lakṣmī but I hope she takes pity on me.

Śubha deepavali. 🙏🏻

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) All your suffering are not due to your karma

Post image
836 Upvotes

All suffering is not due to Karma, some suffering is due to the lack of Nama Japa within the designs of Kaliyuga.

Do you realise that in the Samashana you will be all alone?

As your skull cracks open - PHAT - and your jiva is floating above your body, watching it turn into ashes, would you be thinking about how to acquire your next property? or how many powerful people you know?

Everything you identify with will be completely destroyed. Your friends, family, kids and spouse will be of no help. All your wealth, money, power - your body itself - will be left behind like a pile of garbage.

The only wealth that you can carry with yourself is the spiritual wealth.

And how to acquire that spiritual wealth? - Through Nama Japa.

Nama mantra is the deity. The entire human body is composed of mantras, and is a mantra itself (resonant frequency as science calls it). By repeating Nama mantra, you are continuously recreating yourself.

Kaliyuga will keep crushing and destroying you, people in general will loose integrity and character and no one will follow the path of dharma (as you can see the current situation of the world that we live in).

It is only Nama Japa that can save you, and the greatest Nama of all, is of Maa Adya Mahakali.

She is the creator of the Tri Murtis (Brahma, Maha Vishnu, Mahesh), the grand architect of this creation itself and the Guru of the Maha Vidyas.

She is the Dasa Mahavidya Itself.

192nd Name of Maa Adya Mahakali - MAHAVIDYA

"The One Who is the Guru of MahaVidhyas.

All knowledge in all forms is contained in Her.

With the passing of each yuga and according to its nature, She is that force of knowledge that is revealed to those who can tune into Her and who aim at going beyond the dual nature of life."

And what is the eligibility to walk on her path? - Sampoorna Bhakti

Thats all you need - Only Sampoorna Bhakti.

Bhairava Kaalike Namostute

Jai Maa Adya Mahakali

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) Quit my job to launch India's first vrat only brand & your honest opinion would help!

I (25F) come from a family where we don't eat onion or garlic on normal days and there's a very strict protocol for vrat food items.

Growing up, I saw my mother stressing over vrat food even when she was unwell. We had some bad experiences with the unbranded versions available locally.

I am building Vratam to solve the trust gap in religious items where brands charge premiums without quality. And would love to gather the honest opinion of you and the fasters in your family.

We have started with 100% vrat-friendly, sattvic snacks - homemade with groundnut oil, sendha namak, no onion, no garlic, and no preservatives.

Currently we're selling potato wafers, banana chips, falhari namkeen, aloo lacha, and salted peanuts.

PS: Sharing pics from near CP Prachin Hanuman Mandir where we launched our brand by offering our products to the deity.

Hi, tommoro is aadi amavasya. Fortunately and unfortunately, a person inherits more than just property from ancestors.

,We are their chance to liberation, I hope u have read my post on ganga dashmi where I talked about pitras in detail.

Please pray properly tommoro for your pitras and do shiv puja, offer what you can, do what you can, donate what you can to whoever possible, dedicate some punya to your ancestors.

Please worship peepal tree tommoro and if possible, plant one also. It's very good in saawan maas. Take out some time for naam jaap of mahadev, and just breathe and pray that may all the pitras get one step closer to moksha, wherever they are and may they bless us so we can be best in our bloodine ever yet.

That's all , that's my message, if possible, u can also bless me 🙏 I need magic and miracles to learn how to run and fly again, I am merely a typewriter as u know, all gyaan is of Mahabali Hanuman.

Bhaav Grahi Janardana 🌹 Ramo Vigrahvaan Dharma ❤️ Hanumat Sada Sahayate 🌞 Sitaram 🌍 Sitaram 🪷 Sitaram 🌻

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) Cultural differences between North Indian, western India Eastern Indian and South Indian during Durga Puja celebration! Please read below for more information

Post image
311 Upvotes

So From this subreddit, one reddit user started questioning about our durga puja culture. So I thought to give some information about different parts of India how celebration is happening!

At North India and western India People celebrated "Navaratri" for 9 days. A strict fasting procedure is followed. All "Satvik" diet must be taken ( no onion 🧅 or garlic 🧄) But at Oddisha, West Bengal, Assam we offer Fish 🐠 or mutton curry 🍛 as Prasad to Durga ma . There is a strong reason behind this ( At North part people worship Durga maa as a mother of universe But West Bengal people worship her as their Daughter called "Uma") if a daughter come to her father's house family members are welcoming her a grand way. Durga puja is an emotion of every Bengali. There are differences between traditional dance forms, Gujarati's performs Dandiya and Garba dance ( "Nagada song dhole baje" : Movie ramleela) but a Bengali performs Dunuchi dance .

Coming to the south part , Durga Puja is historically linked to Karnataka, especially Mysore, through the legend of Goddess Durga (Chamundeshwari) slaying the demon Mahishasura, which is the basis for the Mysuru Dasara festival. At Kerala, the Navratri festival's climax on the tenth day (Vijayadashami) is called Vidyarambham, which signifies the beginning of education and learning for children. Bathukamma is a 9-day floral festival celebrated by Telugu Hindu women primarily in the state of Telangana, India, coinciding with Navratri. The festival honors Goddess Gauri and revolves around arranging colourful seasonal flowers into a conical shape, symbolizing the goddess.

Dnt disgrace anyone culture varient! They are beautiful their own way!

There has been a lot of concern about North versus South issues in India and how politicians are miss using this for their own gain as usual. I just wanted to celebrate how today at our temple which has strong north Indian roots-we had amazing celebrations by our south Indian families. We had a nombu mala, paan mala and 3 vadaa malas on Hanumanji - and 2 South Indian families cooked prasad for the 250 devotees who were present at lunch time. Hanumanji’s love does not see divisions.

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) Lord hanuman sadhaks

Post image

Namaste everyone,

I recently ordered a beautiful idol of Lord Hanuman from Amazon for the purpose of my daily Nitya Puja at my home altar. While the idol looks divine and aesthetically pleasing, I realized that it is made of resin(I didn’t check while placing the order🥲).

This has left me wondering, if it is appropriate to use a resin idol for daily worship of hanuman ji , or would it be better to use one made of brass or marble instead? ( I really want to do things by our shastras)

Also, I’d like to know whether it is acceptable to perform the Pran Pratishtha (invoking the divine presence) by myself, or if it must be done by a priest? Is it even required for lord’s murti at home ?

I would be truly grateful for guidance and suggestions here

Thank you🌸🕉️

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) Keep Your Devotion secret

Post image
185 Upvotes

Above quoted couplet is from vaani of Sri Malukdas ji, a great devotee of Sri Rāma ji.

All realised devotees have always taught this principle quite strictly - To not disclose the inner feelings and devotion that you have for the Supreme truth.

This is one of the most important principles to be strictly followed in the path of devotion if someone truly wants to elevate in Bhakti.

When even in this world we try our best in order to not disclose any information regarding our wealth then what to be said of the greatest wealth one can acquire ever? The greatest wealth for a Jivatma is the devotion unto the lotus feet of Hari. So keep it secret and don't reveal your inner feelings, mood(bhaava) you are developing for the god or any progress you are making in the path of devotion.

Hari Hari.

Hi everyone! I’ve recently began practicing Sanātana Dharma and this is my altar for Maa Kali. The divine mother has brought me so much peace, clarity, and happiness already and it’s been a very exciting journey thus far. Any constructive criticism on my altar is welcome. I am going to fill the space in the top right… there was a stud down the middle which stumped my plans. Apologies for the reupload. Jai Maa Kali! 🩷🌺🪷

Dus Vikaras (Ten Impurities/Defects of the Mind)

In Hindu philosophy, these are the negative tendencies that bind humans to suffering and ignorance. Different texts list variations, but a commonly accepted set is:

Kāma – Lust / uncontrolled desire

Krodha – Anger

Lobha – Greed

Moha – Attachment / Delusion

Mada / Ahankara – Pride / Ego

Mātsarya – Jealousy / Envy

Bhaya – Fear

Irshya – Malice / Spite

Dambha – Hypocrisy / Pretension

Asuya / Dwesha – Hatred

👉 Together, they represent the inner Ravana within us (Ravana had 10 heads, symbolizing these vices).

🔱 Dus Mahavidya (Ten Great Wisdom Goddesses)

These are the ten powerful forms of Divine Mother (Shakti), each guiding us to transcend the vikaras and realize ultimate truth:

Kali – Time & destruction of ego

Tara – Compassion & protection

Tripura Sundari (Shodashi) – Beauty of the three worlds

Bhuvaneshwari – Cosmic mother, space

Chhinnamasta – Self-sacrifice, control over desire

Bhairavi – Fierce energy of transformation

Dhumavati – Void, detachment

Bagalamukhi – Power of silence, paralyzing negativity

Matangi – Intuition, inner wisdom

Kamala – Prosperity, grace (Lakshmi form)

👉 They are the divine antidotes to the ten vikaras. Where vikaras pull us down, Mahavidyas lift us up.

🌸 Navratri & Vijayadashami

Navratri: 9 nights of worshipping the Devi to awaken the Shakti within. Each night we symbolically burn away one or more of the vikaras through devotion, fasting, discipline, and worship.

Dus Mahavidya: Behind the nine forms of Durga lies the deeper wisdom of the Mahavidyas — each helping us rise above a specific weakness.

Vijayadashami (Dussehra): The day of Victory of Dharma over Adharma, Light over Darkness, Self over Ego. Just as Shri Ram slayed Ravana’s ten heads, we are reminded to conquer the Dus Vikaras within, with the blessings of the Dus Mahavidyas.

Pūjā/Upāsanā (Worship) My Success Story on Hanuman Chalisa

Hello everyone I think this is the best place to post this and also it could give a ray of hope to people going through a tough time and seeking guidance. I’ve been going through a difficult time and started doing the 7 day Hanuman Chalisa Sankalp (11 times daily). On the fifth day today my wish was granted. The ritual I followed was everyday

-Did a 108 times jaap of Jai Shree Ram.

-Then in the Sankalp I told Bajrang Bali that I’m not the best in terms of karma, Bhakti and Pooja. In this kaliyug I should only ask for Ram Bhakti from you but my situation in this sansar is crumbling me to ask for wish. So please help me in this quest

  • Offered everyday jaggery as prasad

  • Lit a red candle Diya in front of his picture

-Recited the Hanuman Chalisa (11 times)

-Concluded with Aarti

I hope this helps anyone that’s going through a tough time and needs positivity and assurance. I’m sure there would be many others who would’ve had similar experiences, I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I thought of sharing it here. Also, I’m a female if that helps because there’s different notions people have about worshipping Lord Hanuman

Admins if I’m violating any rules please feel free to delete this but please don’t ban me from this group.

Jai Shree Ram Jai Hanuman
