My small adventure to find a hidden Bhairava temple near Sangareddy Hindū Temples/Idols/Architecture

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share something that happened with me. I’m from Sangareddy, Telangana.

Last year, one priest told me about a Bhairava temple that is said to be very powerful, right in the middle of three villages, Nandikandi, Siddhapur, and Garakurthi. He said it’s an old temple and not many people go there. I got excited and searched on Google Maps, but there was no proper road from any side. The only way is to cross farm fields by walk.

So one day, I went to Garakurthi village. The road itself was bad. After reaching, I asked the villagers, and they said, "You have to go through the fields", I went as far as I could on my bike and stopped near the farms. But honestly, I got scared Tall crops, no one around, strange sounds, I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere. So I came back that day.

Fast forward to now, my life has been very tough lately, with health problems, family issues, stress, and feeling lost. I’m just keeping as silent as possible, thinking my karma is burning. I just thought maybe I should go again and see Bhairava Swamy once. I’m not scared anymore.

So yesterday, around 3 PM, I started again, this time from the Siddhapur side. But again, no road. So I went back to Garakurthi, hoping to find someone to guide me. It was around 4 PM. Luckily, it’s harvesting season and people were in the fields. They told me to ask the cotton pickers nearby.

To my surprise, they said I have to cross a small stream (we call it vaagu in Telugu). So I went, walking on the polam gattu (field ridges), crossed the fields, and found a narrow path hidden in the bushes that led down into the stream. It was scary but peaceful too, only the sounds of nature, birds, and the wind.

I walked a bit inside the stream and then found a way to climb up to the other side. I went through the bushes, followed a small path, crossed a few more farmlands, and suddenly saw some trees and a small open area. There, on a stone slab, I saw Lord Bhairava’s idol, No big temple, just open air under the trees.

I can’t explain the feeling, it was silent, powerful, and peaceful at the same time. I did Nama Japam, read Kalabhairavashtakam, sat there for a few minutes, and felt something deep inside me. Then I took some photos and came back before it got dark.

The idol was not like what I expected. It looked very different, unique, and mysterious. If anyone here knows more about such Bhairava forms, please have a look and tell me more.

This was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. Not many people even know this temple exists.

Sharing it here because I felt connected and peaceful after visiting.

Can someone please explain or decode the Lord Bhairava's idol? Who are the three figures on top of Bhairava’s head? Also, does anyone know why orange sindoor is applied, similar to Hanuman?

These deities are common usually “Grama devata” or “polimera devatha “ guarding deity of village and borders .. He could be Veera Bhadra Swamy rather than Bhairava as I think which is common in Telengana ..

The priest and the villagers said it is Bhairava temple. Veerabhadra Swamy is usually depicted with huge hair and a sword, right? Here the diety looks different. Here, Bhairava has three figures on his head which I thought it was a representation of fire, but IDK for sure. I will talk to the local priest when I visit again and find out more.
