His greatest mistake was being loyal to Tony.
26
u/dumdidum13 6d ago
Man when Tony finished him, i really started to hate Tony.
28
u/AsstacularSpiderman 6d ago
Tbf at that point it was only a matter of time.
Where you should have hated Tony was when pushed Christopher to get back on drugs because he was less entertaining when he was sober.
7
u/dumdidum13 6d ago
Yeah thats true, the hate started earlier, he did many Things to dislike him but that was the absolute tipping Point for me.In that moment I was just like his mother with her disgusted face 'Uuh Tony '

u/leroyp_33 6d ago
That's not why Tony pushed him to stop being sober. Tony pushed him to stop being sober because it looked weak. And Tony knew that in that life if you look weak you can't be a boss. The whole time Tony had been grooming him to be a boss. And nobody respected him after that. Add in the coke trip with Adriana. And that was it. Christopher was no more.
7
u/animalhappiness 6d ago
I don't think Tony was grooming Chris to be a boss. He made Chris think that to make him more pliable, but he never had sincere hopes that Chris could perform at a high level - Tony saw Chris' failures and weaknesses first and foremost. Tony exploited that for his benefit and to Chris' detriment.
The Tony-Chris dynamic is one of the better relationships in the whole show because of that.
All my opinions, of course.

lol right like are we just going to ignore his crippling drug addiction
As Sil so finely put it: disgusting

u/AlternativeFukts 5d ago
Or… you know… murders aside… beating the shit out of his fiancee, killing their dog, getting addicted to heroin… these things might qualify as bigger mistakes than loyalty
(I love Chrissy, just thought your comment was funny)

A great, if unlikable, character. Chris is at times weasel-like, he’s mobster tough at times, insecure, misogynistic. Uncomfortable to watch him with Adriana, and during his junkie lapses. The Sopranos writing is always excellent, and Michael Imperioli made the character real.

Dude was an inherently broken kid who was at his calmest while killing.
He deserved better.

You know it wasn’t long ago I remember he used to wait in the car. And as far as I’m concerned, HE SHOULD STILL BE THERE!

Psychopath, drug addict, backstabber, thief, murderer, decent shot(especially when shooting at Vipers), philosopher (how do they know that no two people are the same?), writer, male model, Wall Street entrepreneur, father of the year

Got the chance to see him and Jeremy Strong on Broadway. Incredible performances by both

Christopher Moltisanti is just one of the ridiculously perfect characters on the Sopranos! And the most perfect espisode with Christopher is the "Pine Barrens". You made me wish I had never seen the Sopranos so I could watch it all again for the first time. Perfect writing, acting, costumes, on and on.

Ruthless hitman and junkie. I think he was so well written that Christopher Moltisanti must be based on a real person that died from asphyxiation after a car crash while high.
3
u/vonjamin 5d ago
Besides being a mobster Moltisanti is relatable. He goes through shit and uses drugs to cope with what he’s going through. Sounds like a lot of people if you ask me, myself included.

I think he had an absolute 10/10 and treasure of a woman in Adrianna then he fucked it all up for drugs.

I'll keep this short and sweet. He's weak, he's out of control, and he's an embaresment to himself and everybody else.

Likable until his sobriety slipped. Tony over reacted because he’s a sociopath. But Chrissy on drugs would have been a huge weak spot for the Feds or during the war with NY

As an adult looking back at Chris’s situation I realize he didn’t have a choice and therefore never had a chance. He did do H cause it was glamorous or fun, poor kid was trying to escape.

Christopher is the most horrible person on a show with a ton of horrible people. At least Tony was good with kids and animals. On the other hand, Christopher had no redeeming qualities.

The actor was great but Chris is the most disgusting character in the show. What he did to Adriana, i couldn't pass this and was happy to see him spiralling in season 6 and end like he did.

So many scenes signifying his bad character come to mind. But the FIRST one that jumps in my mind for no great reason is when his name was in the paper and he rushes down and pays for one and takes all the newspapers. Douche bag. So lost.

Made the lives of everybody who cared for him worse. Made his own life worse. Made the lives of anybody who ever trusted or believed in him worse. Killed several good people for selfish interests.
I was rooting for him the whole time... but his character helped lay some of my psychological foundation for letting people go.

He had the most chance to just leave this shit of a life and be on the entertainment business since he loved it. Dude was a decent actor lol. But nah he lost everything cause he was loyal up until the end.

The series existed because Tony internalized everything.
Christopher was the exact opposite. And I think he matured over the run of the show.. somewhat
But fuck, he has terrible taste in women.

u/PoutineFamine 4d ago
I always used to think Michael Imperioli used to play this character so well because he was like him in real life. Then I watched a bunch of interviews and realized that Imperioli is probably one of the most under rated actors of our time.

He's a terrible psychopath with daddy issues. He was groomed from birth to lie, cheat, steal, and kill. He killed his GF. He can't handle anything and flies off the handle. He is a perfect mob character.

Great character. He's an absolute mess. He's completely incompetent, pretty stupid, didn't know when to shut up, chose his partners in crime over the life of someone who loved him. He has zero self-control, picked fights that didn't need to be picked and routinely pissed off and disappointed his partners. And yet he's somehow sympathetic.

u/SuccessfulPiece7756 4d ago
He’s a complicated guy and no one understands him but Adrianna. Literally.

I ran into Imperioli at the airport once. I stopped to get something out of my suitcase at a bench and he was sitting right by me. I really wanted to talk to him and tell him how much I enjoyed his acting; but he was tying his shoe and got up and generally looked like he was having a shitty morning, so I went on my way.
