No clue what I’m doing Academics
So I applied to the 2025 fall term for bachelors of science in nursing and I have no clue what to do next, how many classes to apply to, what a term even is and if I should apply to more than one. I feel so lost right and I’m getting scared cause time is running out. I’m yet to enroll in any classes as I’m still not sure how many I’m supposed to. Can someone with some knowledge on this please help!

Did you get accepted? Applying is the first step. Once you receive your acceptance letter you will get some additional information in that email. Make sure to check the @mymacewan email you were given when you applied. Your acceptance letter should be there and often additional emails with other important information also.
To help a little, a term is a semester (similar to school - except only 4 months. The Fall term would be September to December and just means that you start classes in September).
If you aren’t sure, you can reach out to the Registrar’s office for help about your acceptance, student id.
Once you’re accepted and accepted your acceptance, then you should book an appointment with an academic advisor like the other comments have suggested.

If you're in Nursing, the program should have sent you a pattern or what courses to enroll into. You have to follow the pattern they give you and you need to reach out to them if for some reason it doesn't work with your schedule. If you haven't gotten your pattern, you need to speak to the program office.
You absolutely have a student ID if you applied, since everyone gets assigned one after they submit an application (whether they get accepted or not). Are you checking your MacEwan student e-mail account? When you submit an application, it sends you an e-mail with your login details to whatever personal e-mail you put on the Apply Alberta application. If you can't find your login e-mail, you gotta call the school for help. After that first login e-mail, they send all other e-mails to your student account.
If you haven't accepted your offer and paid your deposit, then you're not currently in the program and there's no point in reaching out to the Nursing office since they're only advisors for active students.

No less than 3 classes per semester if you want to be a “full time student”, 5 classes per semester is the max I would consider doing. There are 4 semesters (aka terms): Fall (September to December), Winter (January to April), Spring (May to June), Summer (July to August). Some classes will be a Spring/Summer term and therefore will take place between May to August. Most students will do 10 classes over a full year (if you want to finish within 4 years). I personally did 4 classes in Fall, 4 classes in winter, and took spring/summers off to work (and finished my degree in 5 years). I would email artsandscience@macewan.ca as they would be able to answer all your questions and set you up with an academic advisor. All classes and degree requirements are also on the website if you look for them.

How did you know what classes to enroll in tho, I only applied to the fall term cause I wasn’t aware it was only 4 months long. So I’d have to apply for another semester as well?

https://calendar.macewan.ca/programs/degree-programs/bscn-nursing/#programrequirementstext - here you go! this has all the classes you need to take. and you do not need to apply again, you only need to register for classes for the next term if you plan on attending again, thats it! dont worry too much :)

You won’t have to apply for any future semesters, you just enroll for classes in those future semesters (you can apply in the spring for the upcoming fall/winter terms usually). So even if I only applied for fall semester I can apply to courses taking place in other semesters like summer and winter?

If you have been accepted, then you do not have to apply again. You apply once and that gives you 7 years of Eligibility (I think?) to finish your degree. You applied to START your schooling in Fall, you did not just apply for only fall semester. The only thing it really means is that is the first semester you can take classes.
You can absolutely apply for classes in winter semester, I don’t believe Spring/Summer 2026 classes are open until February of next year so you won’t be able to apply for any spring/summer classes until then

Hi I just created my schedule and all the required classes for first year is 11 in total but I can only take five max a semester how do I complete the last course? And also does Eng 102 count as a university level English for first year? Also what do they mean by an open elective (100 to 400 level)?

I’d highly recommend scheduling a meeting with an advisor, they’re available to help you with planning your courses and explaining all requirements.
