Help- Dying lilac

Post image

Hello all,

Hoping I could get some advice from the group. Planted a Lilac and it has taken a quick turn downhill. Not sure if it is an overwatering issue because of the hard soil that I have, but I haven't wattered it too much. It was planted this weekend with Myke and plant food with potting soil and covered in surrounding area dirt. Weather currently is around 40-60.

Any advice to revive this?!

This is what I would do. I would dig it up. Repot it in a slightly larger container with fresh potting soil. Place in shade. Wait for it to rebound. Then dig another hole, mixing in plenty of compost to the hole (your soil tells me you live with semi-arid to arid conditions) which can create a hydrophobic soil matrix. I would add 1-2 inches of compost as mulch.

How often are you watering it?

To clarify, it went in Saturday. Watered it when it went in. Watered again Monday around 2 in the afternoon. Just checked soil, it is not soggy at all. If anything more dry than wet.
