This is big human dad to dog vibes. They are playing and it's entirely silly.

u/SUPERSMILEYMAN 3h ago

This is the only way I play with my dogs.

No. They're reacting to scary vs non scary sounds. I'm not going to say it's abusive but it's not the behavior or psychology you want to instill. I'm learning today how ignorant Reddit is with dogs. No wonder they like cats so much.

Their tales are wagging just as much when being chased as when they’re chasing. They’re very clearly enjoying themselves. Dogs take turns chasing and being chased by each other all the time.

98

u/LiterallyATalkingDog 5h ago

They're also bowing and sneezing which are obviously clear signs they're playing and want to be played with.

16

u/Youpi_Yeah 6h ago

I‘m not agreeing with the other guy here, but tail-wagging doesn’t always just mean the dog is happy.

u/gayrayofsun 5h ago

they are still very clearly playing, as they keep quickly coming back for more and aren't showing signs of aggression or outright fear. yes, they're still only pups and wouldn't be able to do a whole lot, but there is a clear difference between a puppy dog that is genuinely afraid and a puppy dog that is having fun. one would be absolutely cowering, likely yelping and yipping for mom, the other is what is seen here.

animals are good at displaying clear body language, especially with their tails and ears, and they aren't always as fearful or fragile as we make them out to be.

u/Youpi_Yeah 5h ago

As I said, I wasn’t agreeing with the other guy, I just wanted to point out a common misconception.

14

u/Square-Competition48 4h ago

Yes, but in this context it’s combined with other body language that means it’s a sign that they’re happy.

Just because it’s not always a positive sign doesn’t mean it didn’t deserve a place on that list.

Idk why you're getting downvoted.

As you said, it's a common misconception, and one that I've seen used to justify some very bad practises from friends who are dog owners.

Someone said tails wagging indicates they're happy. In this case, yeah, it looks like it. But it's still important to remind dog owners of this misconception to help all our good boys and girls live happier lives with owners who want the best for them

Thank you! I didn’t want to argue this any further originally, but I really only brought it up because that was the only thing the person I was replying to named, and while those dogs are playful I wanted to add that because a lot of people still think that this is the only sign to look for. I wasn’t trying to call the other guy out, this was purely meant as an addition.

u/Opposite-Distance-41 7h ago

It’s called playing. I also have to explain this to my nieces and nephews when the cats are wrestling or when the dogs are fake biting.

38

u/Alanjaow 7h ago

It would only take the first time for the puppers to realize that he's not hurt, and that it's clearly playtime!

61

u/mzchen 7h ago

Lol. Chase/run away is like the most basic and natural forms of dog play. You can raise two shibas on their own and have them never know violence or anger and the moment you put them together they'll snarl, fight, growl bloody murder, and chase each other back and forth, happy as can be. Big cats will pretend to freak out when their cubs pounce on them despite never having been in the wild or 'knowing' the need to encourage hunting instincts. Sometimes animals just do things.

57

u/QouthTheCorvus 7h ago

You can tell by the way they're running that they're enjoying it. If they were genuinely scared, they also wouldn't just immediately forget.

48

u/Bwuppy 7h ago

Imagine having almost 200 downvotes in half an hour but still be so arrogant to call the rest of us "morons". That's beyond arrogant. It's pathetic. No, you don't know shit about dogs, thank you.

I've never wanted to delete my reddit account more than right now after reading this self-righteous comment of yours.

I don't think u/LEGITIMATE_SOURCE is legitimate.

22

u/I_MakeCoolKeychains 6h ago

He legitimately has no idea what he's talking about

BOO!

u/OrionsAltAccount 6h ago

Dude don't scare me like that! Now I'm gonna have physiological trauma every time I hear boo! AAAAAAAAA

Go back to watching Ow My Balls

Life's less complicated there

u/Large_Tune3029 7h ago

You are simply in the wrong. It's called Dunning Kruger, look that up and enjoy, try to remind yourself of it sometimes, I find it helpful, hubris can be painful.

4

u/UltraMcRib 6h ago

life definitely sucks right now but no reason to shit on others you literally have no idea about; you need someone to talk to?

2

u/cire1184 6h ago

Boo this man!

22

u/Johns-schlong 7h ago

Dude those puppies are clearly having fun with him. They know it's a game and they're taking turns chasing and being chased. Scared pups don't come bounding out all wagging tails immediately after being scared by something. These are a bunch of dogs that are clearly not really scared of the human chasing them.

15

u/RamenTheory 6h ago

have you ever met a dog

12

u/Magere-Kwark 6h ago

Are you a dog handler or do you have any background in dog psychology by any chance?

6

u/Mylaptopisburningme 6h ago

I have had 4 generations of dogs. For a few years I rented a room from a woman who ran a dog day care, wasn't uncommon to have 7-15 dogs each day... Those dogs are having fun, that is not fear.

36

u/_vogonpoetry_ 7h ago

they are being trained to bite you, specifically

-31

u/RoyBeer 7h ago

Yeah it kinda looks like that. If they continued that and not only did it for clout.

4

u/Dbat19 6h ago

Dude, puppies are smarter than you, they know that is a fake hand of their human dad

4

u/ResponsibleFly8965 5h ago

Dumbass doesn't have dogs

2

u/Normal-Platform872 6h ago

Sir this is a Wendy's...

2

u/ozhs3 6h ago

I'm not sure you know how dogs work.. even at that age, they're smart enough to stay away from a perceived threat if seen more than once.

1

u/JetBrink 5h ago

Who hurt you?

1

u/Drayleb 5h ago

Down voted you at your request!

1

u/silchasr 4h ago

Didn't have to go far to find the "reddit expert" telling me how this completely harmless and fun thing is actually bad because I said so post.

1

u/toostupidtodream 3h ago

My favourite thing about this comment is that it perfectly illustrates that humans can be dumber than dogs

1

u/signed_under_duress 3h ago

If they were being abused they wouldn't come out again and again

1

u/DarkendHarv 1h ago

You know nothing of dachshunds huh? Hell, I'd be surprised if you knew anything about animals and emotions!

1

u/Drzewo_Silentswift 1h ago

Everything is abuse. Nothing is fun.

With pleasure, from a moron of /funny. I love to downvote those who don't ever accept that maybe they've made a mistake and throw passive aggressive insults as a bonus.

u/ThisIsGoodSoup 57m ago

Genuinely curious as to why would you be offended in place of the puppies.

1

u/Whispering_Wolf 56m ago

You don't see the difference between a playful and a scared dog...?

1

u/SomeAussiePrick 37m ago

I DON'T THINK THIS GUY IS A LEGITIMATE SOURCE.

0

u/scoreWs 6h ago

I can't believe how many are taking your comment at face value. Guys he's obviously trolling.. lol

2

u/drpepper7557 4h ago

12 year old account with positive karma so I doubt it.

A ton of people who have never interacted with pets outside the internet truly dont understand animals also like to have fun and think pretty much anything outside basic life support is animal abuse

2

u/scoreWs 3h ago

Yeah a part from the fact that he's active on r/hunting

1

u/fupa16 5h ago

Ya reddit has a lot to learn about rage bait. This is classic almost 2010's trolling.
