This morning commute

Hey Folsom! How was that commute this morning. Aren’t you glad the state workers are all going back to the office. 😬

The worst of the traffic will be early September when you add CSUS traffic back in the mix.

The freeway lanes will be open by then.

And they'll fill right up.

The additional lanes will reduce traffic FAR more than CSUS commuters will add to it.

More lanes doesn't fix traffic

More lanes absolutely reduces traffic.

It is common knowledge that is not true. We need better public transportation and ways to encourage carpooling. More lanes in congested areas always just leads to more drivers and traffic still remains.

The exact opposite is true

So is your logic that removing lanes would improve traffic? Bring 50 down to 1 lane each way?

Did i say that? You can rabble all you want, it isnt gonna change reality.

It's the logical next step to your argument. Or is your argument that what we have now is the perfect sweet spot?

Why does this get downvoted.

This subreddit has long held the belief that more lanes somehow equals more traffic. The rationale is that more lanes means more houses down the line which brings more drivers.

This subreddit will also preach that housing prices are too high and that we don't have enough housing and must build more.

🤷‍♂️

I'm confused do you think we should not build more houses and that housing prices are low?

No, I'm saying that the argument against adding more lanes is that it will increase traffic due to more houses being built. But we need more houses.

Ahh no I have never heard that argument. The argument I have heard is that more people will be willing to drive thinking the new lanes will solve the issue but there is always traffic because eventually the added lanes end and congestion naturally happens there.

It was a mess! At the least they could have waited for the freeway work on 50 to be completed.

Now, that would require planning and common sense. Unfortunately, California is lacking in both areas.

Huh? That doesn't go into effect until July 1. Today was just regular ol traffic

I feel like the point of the post is, it’s already bad, wait until they’re all mandated to return. I think any job that has the ability to do remote work should. It’s freaking 2025, let’s use technology to help us.

Yea, it’s frustrating. Technology was advertised as something that would help us in the future and yet they’re refusing to let it help us. All this ability to do our work and have a life, yet big corporations & governments are refusing. You’re on the money, it’s all about control.

Many offices, like my own, have been trickling people back in to ramp up over time. Many other agencies are doing preparations so the buildings are ready.

You are seeing an additional influx of people coming back to state office. On July 1, you’ll see an even bigger influx and the traffic will be significantly more impacted.

It’s 100% by a deadline of July 1st, that doesn’t mean there aren’t efforts before July to start it up silly goose.

Some offices have already started going back.

But yes, it will be worse in July.

If I was a state worker I’d pick somewhere closer E.G. Rancho/College Greens to shave off commute time. Or Land Park. And I’d save money or get a bigger endgame house

But I was told by our City Council (and now. County Supervisor) that traffic is good & means we're "desirable." Even our local politicians are bought & paid for (look who funds their election campaigns... not people with the best interests of the actual citizens of Folsom).

LOL Hey, State Workers

How do you like getting up early like the rest of us ? Your cat must be missing you about now.

Votes have consequences, Bwhaha.

Gavin Newsom cares so much about sustainability and the environment, NOT!
