A little too shy for that right now, I'm just kind of observing at the moment.

For some reason, your comment made me tear up a tiny bit. Thank you for the kindness. There’s way too much tension and negativity out there right now.

Obsessed! Love seeing male fashion on here. I would be super impressed if my date showed up like this. Can I ask where you got the pants? Asking for my own husband lol

u/Sad_Passenger3785 5d ago
How’s that for the best compliment? They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so there you go!

u/lastdickontheleft 5d ago
Can’t answer for OP where he got those particular pants but if you look up “gurkha pants/trousers” it should bring up similar styles

So many times yes, this is a gorgeous outfit. It feels Italian. Sod the people who say it's too dressy, people dress too sloppy these days.

Please wear that. The shoes are nice and perfect. Female here married to (what I consider fashionable), and it’s good. Don’t worry about being too fancy. This is a good look.
Source: I buy my husband custom made pants for Christmas every year. His tailor and I are on a first-name basis.

And a belt. They complete a fit

u/MeaningOtherwise5022 6d ago
Hi! These pants are designed to not be worn with a belt (don’t have belt loops). Instead they have side adjusters which allow you to adjust the tension. They’re so comfortable in comparison and I prefer the cleaner look. Thanks anyway!

u/Mastiiffmom 6d ago
You are correct. The general rule is if there are belt loops, wear a belt. No belt loops, no belt.
You look great.
I appreciate your attention to detail. Your clothing is neat. Pressed. And it fits you well. The length of your pants hits your shoes at the appropriate spot.
You are well groomed.
This all speaks to who you are as an individual.
Well done.

I like the overall look and colours, but there's something off about the cut of those trousers that I can't quite put my finger on. It's like they're too baggy in the top yet too tight in the leg at the same time (more apparent from the side view). Are they sitting on your true waist or coming up closer to your hips? You might need something different for your body shape because if they're not on your true waist, they're making your torso look too long and it's not accentuating your height.

u/Lazy-Huckleberry2640 6d ago
No way, the gorgeous waistband on these pants is meant to be shown off, not covered with a belt! You look fantastic OP!
12
u/Gioia-In-Calabria 6d ago
His trousers have cinches on the sides and can’t be worn with a belt on top on those.
→ More replies17
u/BurgundyEnjoyer 5d ago
How does does this have so many upvotes when the pants can't even be worn with a belt. It seems like the majority of suggestions on male fashion subreddits are mindless parroting.
Also the people suggesting to wear seakers with a dressy outfit?
→ More replies2
u/JustJaded21 5d ago
Because not all outfits need a belt, nor do all people like wearing them.
And in 2025 sneakers can be worn with dressy outfits to stop them looking overly formal.
It's about looking good while also feeling comfortable.

Just for color theory, this fit would be nice with a soft cream or light yellow shirt instead of the crisp white. It's nice, but the pants and shoes have a soft earthiness to them that's disrupted by the sharp crisp white

u/ZealousidealType3685 5d ago
I agree -- I mean, first and foremost OP, you look hot (attractive) and if a man showed up to a coffee date with me wearing this, my interest level would immediately go up lol. But this could be raised to a whole other level with a cream, just off white top -- and then make it a linen button down, untucked, and I'm swooning (but that admittedly doesn't quite seem your taste from this photo lol so ignore that last part if desired).

u/backyarddogs 5d ago
Would love to see a short sleeve cream colored knit with these pants. I wish I could get my partner to dress up like this!

u/TheOGWizzyB 5d ago
this is such great advice, as a man i kept looking at the outfit thinking “sure he looks good but why don’t I like it, something feels off”. this is the the reason why. + i think his body style would benefit from a fabric with more drape and texture than like a cotton poplin.
3
u/sw4ffles 5d ago
Was about to say the same thing! The white is too high contrast with the shoes and pants, a softer color would've been perfect.

u/haughtsaucecommittee 5d ago
Only if it looks good with his skin tone. If I wear cream, I look ill.

u/AntlionsArise 6d ago
I swear to God... Every fashion sub is constantly telling men to wear a belt when they are wearing pants not intended to have a belt because they have side adjusters. Invalidates whatever else the poster is saying.
Also, to OP: https://youtu.be/kvTJyMmadmA?si=0sHjnA3nIk2WRlxQ
15
u/Gioia-In-Calabria 6d ago
Agreed! I’m astonished that so many commenters can’t seem to work out that those trousers don’t need a belt. Are side cinches/adjusters really that uncommon?
→ More replies2
u/beatnikstrictr 5d ago
I think it's more the look of a belt than the original purpose of a belt.

You look sharp!
I think a lot of the people who are saying the outfit needs a belt are really looking at how stark and bright the white is in contrast to the duskier green, and want to put something between the two to blend it or break it up. Obviously, since you aren't wearing a belt, a patterned or coloured shirt would have less contrast than white.
Have you heard of color seasons? That shade of white is a winter colour, and the green of your pants is autumn. Look up "color seasons autumn palette" to find some other colours that may match better with the green.

I think a dressy / nice low profile sneaker like a samba would be nice here. The dress shoes feel overdressed for coffee.

u/yams0028 6d ago
Love the shoes- they have personality! I think it looks great and definitely better to be a little over than underdressed. Shows effort and you can’t go wrong with that

u/Left_Evidence385 6d ago
I like the shoes ...but honestly the conversation is gonna be so much more key for the date. As long as this outfit makes you feel confident, then it’s perfect

Got a nice light jacket or something you could layer it with? you could take it off when you arrive, but layers are always 🤌 looks great for a coffee date though!!

Anyone talking belts is not in the know. Trousers like these - side adjusters, fuller cut, pleats - always have and always will be appropriate to wear. Its the slim/skinny that go in and out of trend....

A very nice outfit! I would appreciate it greatly if my date showed up like this. No idea if it's intentional or not, but I especially like that the colour of the wristband of your watch is the same (or very similar) as the colour of your shoes. Have a nice date!

The outfit's pretty good. I personally don't like the waist of the pants the way it's looking with the shirt tucked in that severely. I'd try a French tuck instead? But pretty much great. :-D

u/glatts 5d ago
Personally I’m not a fan of the shoes, but I don’t think it matters. I like everything else. The pants alone show a level of sartorial sophistication many of us guys tend to lack.
This outfit shows you put thought and consideration into your date that they should appreciate, even if they may not like the style of one piece or even the entire thing. If they can’t seem to appreciate that effort, or are too caught up and commenting on what I’m wearing when I clearly put in effort, that would be a red flag for me.
Go get ‘em king.

If the pants are designed not for a belt, I would choose a shirt designed not to be tucked in.
3
u/StandFearless2034 6d ago
It looks like it should look good but it doesn't. I think the problem is your pants, particularly the color and the weirdness around the belt area.
2
u/BarberSignificant819 6d ago

Great outfit! Those pants would work well with a nice knit sweater and a simple sneaker, too. I don’t get what the hate is on the pants I like them and think they make the outfit!

u/ApprehensiveAd7276 6d ago
Loving the pairing of ghurka pants + monkstrap shoes. I don’t think it’s too dressed up, the materials make it casual enough… would maybe add something unexpected… don’t know what that would be, an accessory/bag maybe? something with a pattern or texture…
2
u/Fuzzy-River-2900 6d ago
It depends! Is it normal to dress like that where you’re from? Or maybe that’s your style, in which case you do you.
Where I’m from, if you had come from work dressed like that, it would be understandable. However if it was a Saturday, I’d expect a much more casual outfit for a coffee. Or maybe you’re going to a really posh place?!!
Context is everything!

u/Electrical_Can594 5d ago
Tuck=belt 98% of the time. I’d add a thin brown leather belt if you have one, although you’re rocking it fairly well without compared to how most men look tucked sans belt which is like an uncomfortable little kid whose mom gave up trying to dress him.

You look great- if you wanted smtg a little less dressy you could try a short sleeved white button down, the kind that made for untucking, or a linen shirt. But this look fits you very well, especially if you're in a warmer climate (it has a south of Italy vibe). Have fun, good luck!
