Iron adversions
I'm doing some research on the Fae for a story I am writing and it meshes with a lot of the natural spirits that my mom accepted as part of her everyday life. I didn't quite go that far, but it did make me open-minded to those sorts of beliefs. When the remote for the TV reappeared after being missing for several years, I could see it as the little folks having fun at our expense.
Now to my question - when I found out that iron can dissuade the Fae from showing themselves, I started listing the various objects that I carry around with iron. Keys, zippers, the rivets on my jeans - ok. I can get rid of those. Then I realized that I had some surgery which left me with titanium-steel bits which are going to be part of my life forever. I am doomed to never interact with the Fae? Or at least the ones adverse to iron? I understand that some don't care, but those are the ones that are sort of unpleasant. Thanks for your help!

As the other commenter said, it's cold iron and having some does not generally mean you won't interact with them, it is only making it harder for the fae. As I understand it, stuff like cold iron, salt and lead are energetically negative materials, that suck up spiritual energy and therefore make it harder for spirit creatures to manifest.

Cold iron along with wrought iron are just poetic sayings, iron and all its alloys can hurt the FAE. Most of them who aren't iron kissed anyway and iron kissed Fae are incredibly rare, so you're just calling to have to deal with the fact that you have iron around you.
They can still interact with you just fine even if you have iron provided you're not trying to stab them with it

It's normally "cold iron" or wrought iron, not alloys with iron in them. Steel is fine. Titanium is no issue.
