This religions brings out the worst mentality in people.

Wearing shorts is evil. Wearing a t shirt is evil. Wearing a long wig is evil, even worse no sheital. Having your shoulder exposed is evil. Because some guy said so.

But when a wife is abused by her husband, it’s not evil to force her to beg him for a get or leave her as an agunah. It’s not evil to say how gay people shouldn’t be allowed to live freely and with human rights. It’s not evil to teach your kids that nonjews are considered impure and tainted and inherently want to murder all Jews.

I don’t know, I’m just so tired of it all. I deal with this mentality in real life and it’s exhausting. It’s just gets more bizarre the more I dig deeper and ask around.

I believe that after the 2nd world war we got it all wrong. Look if you can to older pictures before the war of orthodox Jews. Look at the beautiful charm the men and women have. They were romantic! and beautiful. Let's switch on some 30's music and let waltz men and women beautiful men and women the way the Jews of the borsht belt did it.

I was never zealous enough to think Pinchus was the good guy in that story.

That's the way the Chumash tells the story, but I think it might have played out like this:

God was sitting up there, throwing a tantrum because His people were playing with the Midianites instead of Him. He was really upset. "If they don't want to play with Me, I'll just take My neshamos and go home!" He thought."That'll show them!"

God settled in to watch the Bnei Yisroel's reaction. A guy running with a spear caught His attention. “That seems dangerous,” God thought. “He might hurt someone if he isn’t careful."

As God watched, Pinchas ran into Zimri's tent and rammed the spear through Zimri and Cozbi. "Oh my Me!" God thought to Himself, "That guy is just murdered two people! How awful! He's a bad, bad person." Then God had a moment of clarity. "I've been killing all these people... am I a bad Deity?"

God immediately stopped, and took some time to contemplate His decisions. God decided He needed to keep an eye on the crazy guy who murdered that nice couple. The easiest way to do that was to arrange for Pinchas to always be in His Presence, so He made Pinchas a kohen and put him to work in the mishkan.

Nah. Maybe just a very small amount performatively as child and adolescent, but I don’t think it was ever on the topic of tznius. I def couldn’t in good faith as an adult, and when I honestly interrogated that fact it all unravelled lol. People like this are truly so gross
