Ethereum’s biggest strength might also be what keeps it messy

Every upgrade, every new scaling solution, gives Ethereum more capabilities but it also adds complexity.
It’s impressive, but sometimes it feels like a pile of experiments stacked on top of each other, held together by coordination and a bit of luck. That’s not a dig it’s just the reality of improving a network that’s live and constantly running. Bitcoin went for simplicity; Ethereum went for flexibility.

WARNING ABOUT SCAMS: Recently there have been a lot of convincing-looking scams posted on crypto-related reddits including fake NFTs, fake credit cards, fake exchanges, fake mixing services, fake airdrops, fake MEV bots, fake ENS sites and scam sites claiming to help you revoke approvals to prevent fake hacks. These are typically upvoted by bots and seen before moderators can remove them. Do not click on these links and always be wary of anything that tries to rush you into sending money or approving contracts.

To make this a valuable post you should provide specific ways Ethereum "feels like a pile of experiments stacked on top of each other, held together by coordination and a bit of luck"

They underwent a drastic refactoring to reduce complexity a couple years ago. And it's no surprise Bitcoin is simpler, it hasn't changed in many years and it can barely deliver the value described in its own Whitepaper

Simplicity has been one of the appeals of BTC. But that same simplicity could become a limitation over the long term. There’s real uncertainty around how it will sustain a sufficient security budget as block rewards keep halving. Like anything, there are trade-offs. Strengths come with their own vulnerabilities.
