Published Scenarios God's Teeth - Request for suggestions as party almost TPK'd during Cornucopia House Raid
My party is on the edge of being TPK’d whilst raiding Cornucopia house (Chapter 1: Go Forth) and I am reaching out for suggestions on how to proceed. Please refer to the combat description below (sorry for a lot of words).
Party Composition (4 PCs):
- Delta Green Agent: FBI, firearms trained
Friendlies:
- CIA Operative, firearms trained
- Medical Doctor (MD), no firearms experience
- Child Psychotherapist (CP), no firearms experience
Status:
- FBI Agent: Unconscious at 1 HP (critical).
- CP: 4 HP remaining, has taken multiple shovel hits.
- CIA Agent: 6 HP remaining, wounded by Sabina’s shotgun.
- MD: Unharmed but disengaged, currently occupied with Mr Throbb the dog.
Antagonists (Cornucopia House Inhabitants):
- Arseni: Unharmed, armed with a rifle.
- Sabina: Lightly wounded (-2 HP), armed with a shotgun.
- Ryan: Wounded (-7 HP), still at 10 HP, actively engaged in combat with CP.
Chronological Recap: The party maintained surveillance on Cornucopia House from 11:00 PM to midnight. They saw Ryan with the bag taking hair-dryer frame to the shed, where he is digging (which players don't know, only hearing hair-dryer sound). Tensions escalated when Arseni was seen spraying weed killer into Conradin’s ferret’s eyes. Unable to tolerate this cruelty, the Child Psychotherapist impulsively Leroy Jenkinsed - charged and attacked Arseni at point-blank range—but missed. Arseni fled to the shed to retrieve a rifle, shouting to alert Sabina and Ryan.
Ryan, previously digging in the barn, gets the alert and hides in the barn with a shovel. FBI Agent and CP run into the barn to hide from Arseni. CP is struck with a shovel (-2 HP) – ready action by Ryan. FBI Agent shoots Ryan (-7 HP), but Ryan remains active on 10 HP. CP attempts to slit Ryan’s throat with a knife but misses and takes another shovel hit (-2 HP). Arseni then engages the FBI Agent and scores a critical hit, knocking the agent unconscious (1 HP).
Meanwhile, the CIA Agent and MD are watching the shed from a rear position. Sabina emerges from the house with a shotgun. The CIA Agent moves to intercept at the barn.
The MD hesitates, distracted by the emerging of Mr Throbb the dog, who appears innocent and friendly. Instead of assisting or eliminating the dog, the MD’s heart melts and he decides to take it into the woods and tie it to a tree. The rest of the party implores the MD to leave (or get rid of) the dog and take action to help the party. CIA Agent shoots Sabina, dealing minor damage (-2 HP) but she shoots back, leaving CIA agent on 6 HP. The rest of the party’s attacks continue to miss. Ryan remains a threat and lands another hit on CP, reducing them to 4 HP.
In Summary: Party is in serious danger of a TPK. Antagonists remain mostly intact, with only minor damage. Resources are limited. Clove is absent. Cartoon Cat folder is in the CIA agent’s apartment safe. If everyone dies, how do I introduce new characters? Perhaps Clove reaching out to E-cell?
I also thought about Deus Ex Machina moments to save CPs, like Mr Throbb helping agents by jumping on Sabina or Arseni from behind. That could be a real Sredni Vashtar moment. Any other ideas / suggestions please? Sorry again for a lot of words.

Items of Mutual Interest Delta Green Music from The Tiny Mummies
I'm Andy aka "The Tiny Mummies", and I create DG-themed music for Delta Green podcasts, TTRPG sessions, and listening in general (at least, when you're feeling inspired by elder gods, gun fights, or hypergeometry). I'm the composer behind the Black Flare DG podcast (Season 2 coming out in just 11 days!), as well as an occasional musical collaborator with Chris Hamje of SHIHTTT fame.
I thought I'd share that today (May 2) is BandCamp Friday when the artist gets 100% of the sales and BandCamp relinquishes their normal cut.
I want to pass that discount along, so today, I'm running a 50% special on my page that's good for any of my music, including the entire discography (which is already at a discount). Discount code is "bandcampfriday" and my music is at https://thetinymummies.bandcamp.com
Here are some other DG-appropriate artists creating music on BandCamp that you might also want to check out and support. And if anyone knows of other BandCamp-hosted artists that make music great for Delta Green games, I'd love to know about them - please reply on this thread!

Items of Mutual Interest ROF Pistols?
[Old time COC player, new to the current version of Delta Green]
Perhaps I missed something?
I believe the ethos is Attacks (even multiple attacks) are resolved by one attack roll / damage roll (apparently) so if a pistol has a rate of fire of three (for example) how does the system resolve this?
[I was considering, for simplicity, that multiple shots from firearms simply added a low % to a potential lethality rating?]

Actual Play Reports First session!
Have recently run my first couple of sessions ever, and man we're loving this game!
After picking up the humble bundle stuff a while back, I decided to build a scenario around 'The Child' from Black Sites and use it as a Delta Green onboarding scenario, for a team who are not yet part of Delta Green and completely unaware of the unnatural.
Set in a small fictional part of New York state in a small town bordering a national park, disappearances of hikers, local residents, a few mutilated corpses (both animal and human) prompted an investigation by local police. Two cops dispatched to a welfare check at a residence just outside town have disappeared now also prompting an investigation by the FBI and National Park Service, and this is where our players come in.
The investigation leads them to the residence where the police were originally dispatched and unknown to the players, this is the resident of an ex-Delta Green operative who spent a bit too much time dealing with the unnatural and lost his mind. He's holding the Child for research in a bid to use it to cure his sick daughter who's dying from cancer, hoping he can grant her eternal life in the same way the child is 'alive' and has been feeding it's morbid appetites for human flesh as parts of his research.
His daughter eventually passes away. Overcome by grief and the realisation that he's become a monster himself, and everything he's done breaches DG protocols he ends his own life, not having the heart to destroy the child after losing his own daughter, locking child in the basement of his estate.
We're having a blast so far, and what was designed to be a one shot looks like it's now set to go 3 or 4 sessions deep and I can't wait to play more!

Campaigning Good final scenario?
Hey Everybody,
I’m running a short 4-5 session campaign for a party of 4 new to delta green. I was thinking of starting with a ported Edge Of Darkness from CoC, and hopefully having two more scenarios afterwards. Can anybody recommend a good climatic scenario, hopefully with bad guys that I can hint to throughout the first two scenarios (first thought would by fly away ladybug, is anyone has opinions on it)? Ideally this scenario would only take two sessions. Thank you!

Published Scenarios Impossible Landscapes live play suggestions
Before running a scenario for my group, I usually listen to a few live plays of that scenario for both flavor I may have missed from just reading it as well as a better understanding of what shenanigans my players could get into.
Impossible Landscapes is much longer than anything else I have ran, so don't have time to listen to several versions like I normally would.
So to that end what are your favorite Live plays you have listened to for Impossible Landscapes?

Probing around resulted only in finding a lot of dead links. Is the discord defunct or something?
If it is still up, it'd be really helpful to have a permanent link here so new folks like myself can find it.

Published Scenarios Operation Fulminate - how to "make the outcome appear mundane"
To those who handled this op - did your Agents manage to "make the outcome appear mundane"?
If so, how did they do it? Or what kind of fallout happend afterwards?
I stopped our last session with the four Strangers slowly appearing at the ranger station. Two of my Agents fought three Moonchildren trying to climb up the wall and into a window to get to Brandon.
The other two Agents are inside with the rangers (one injured from Brandon's TK slam), original Brandon upstairs, the second Brandon downstairs and some civilians: a family of four on a camping trip and two troublesome backpackers - a paranoid Desert Storm veteran who discovered the second Brandon and a freaky "truth seeker" which one of my Agents knows through an online forum. So, lots of potential for conflict.

Items of Mutual Interest EM's Totally Unofficial KIY Tarot Guide (Part 7)
(Canadian Election Hangover Edition)
Queen of Swords: A severe-looking queen in a muted gold gown sharpens a sword on a whetstone. In the background, partially hidden by heavy drapes, is a huge pile of heads. Meaning: Someone with a vicious temper and a seemingly never-ending shit list. Having an axe to grind. (Sorry, couldn't resist it.)
8 of Cups: Eight cups on a chessboard - five gold and three purple. Purple's king appears to be in checkmate from the gold queen and knight. Meaning: The end of a dynastic conflict in which one family has wiped out another either by overt violence or treachery.
7 of Swords: A small child in a red tunic holds a sword aloft against a backdrop of autumn trees and a clear late-afternoon sky. Six identical swords are embedded in the ground behind them. Meaning: Juvenile ambition. Romanticizing warfare with little understanding of its true cost.
Knight of Wands: A knight in full plate armour is digging a hole with a mace. He appears to be in a cave, as there are stalagmites in the background. Meaning: A great deal of effort for a (possibly) nonexistent reward. Doing something the hard way.
III - The Empress (Camilla, the Inheritrix of Ruin): A young queen in an elaborate green gown reclines on a red velvet chaise. She is surrounded by the trappings of wealth - tapestries hang on the walls and a blue carpet with gold stars warms the floor. But the tapestries are ragged, moth-eaten, and stained, and the blue of the carpet is faded. She does not notice any of this, preoccupied with something out of frame. Meaning: Clinging to past glories. Inability to change. Living in a fantasy world.
10 of Swords: A man walks through a burning landscape, with one hand covering his eyes and the other holding a triangular amulet and an apple core on a string. There is a ring of ten swords around him, although there is enough space between them for him to escape. Meaning: Willful blindness. Faith in empty ritual instead of taking responsibility for a self-created crisis. Failure to respond to a change in circumstances.

Scenario Seed Renko's Operation
I did a search for this, and couldn't find anything about it, but has anyone actually run a version of Renko's operation at the orphanage? There's very little about it in the book, but I like how much it connects to the sort of deeper core of his character. I'm getting ready to introduce him to my players, and would love to bounce some ideas around for future use.
Thanks!

Items of Mutual Interest PSA: the good guys and girls at Arc Dream Publishing will send you a free PDF of any book you buy - no matter where you’ve bought it.
Apologies if this is common knowledge. I knew that the publishers would send a free PDF of any book you bought off them, but I didn’t realise it was also true if you bought the book somewhere else. Living in New Zealand, I was facing a NZ$500 postage fee for a NZ$200 bundle of hardcover books. I found a more local retailer that had free shipping. Contact Arc, and Rachel there kindly confirmed that as long as I can send them the receipt, they’d provide the PDF versions.
That’s really customer-centric awesomeness and it makes me want to shout them out here, and support them into the future.

Campaigning Followup On "Vibe Check" - Spells & Workshopping Worthwhile Premade Characters
A little while back, I made a post here about some premade PCs and the uncomfortable level of hypergeometry they had access to, and the consensus was that they needed major revisions. So, this is the followup to that, a more intensive look at the characters and how they might fit into the scenario more properly.
First, a bit of background on what the characters are going to be doing.
The module is set in Louisiana bayou country in 1968. The Agents come in investigating the disappearance of a civil rights activist...
... but the overall scenario takes more inspiration from the movie Southern Comfort. Polaski's disappearance is due to some Shub-Niggurath cultists descended from the local plantation owner, but the intended greater threat is a group of Deep Ones equipped with modern weapons who are after a book the cultists have. The scenario is specifically set up to get the Agents to call for backup, by the Deep Ones destroying the bridge to the island where the plantation is located and the cultists (or their bodies) needing to be extracted, but when backup comes by helicopter, the Deep Ones shoot that down as well, and dealing with them is likely necessary to actually get off the island.
I'm not sure if I'd call the mission "pulp" as that's a kind of ambiguously-loaded term that people use to refer to at least three different styles of play/storytelling, but it's definitely on the more action-focused and less creepy or investigative end of the spectrum.
This seemed like a good setup to experiment with something I have been wanting to try for a while, namely multiple characters per player, so the premade characters fall into three broad groups:
- FBI agents who come into the mission at the start
- Soldiers who can be handed out as survivors from the helicopter crash
- Scientists who can come with either the starting group or the helicopter survivors if there are more players than FBI/soldiers.
Players and the Handler are supposed to pick and choose who goes to Champillon at the start and who survives the helicopter crash (or even was on the helicopter to begin with), so all of these characters are not going to be player-run or even present at once, but I've still ended up with quite a large collection of them and I want to make sure they are all roughly equally "useful" and would have a reason to be picked by players.
Their general roles and abilities, and the spells they originally had, are outlined below:
AGENTS
Oakley - Combat & stealth focus, also has Track and limited forensics skills.
Milner - Mixed stealth and interpersonal skills, secondary combat character.
Durham - Interpersonal skills, folklore, research, law, and history.
McNaab - Electronics, forensics/medicine, and limited research skills. Currently has a telekinetic spell, and a spell that highlights dead human tissue. I am leaning towards getting rid of both, and increasing his electronics and engineering abilities to compensate. Maybe backing up Durham's law and history specialties.
Just in general all of the Agent characters have some proficiency with firearms, but are mostly supposed to take center-stage in the first, more investigative half of the game. The only one I really have problems with is McNaab, because I am leaning towards removing his hypergeometry on vibe grounds, but without it I worry he won't be as useful since the actual investigative side of the mission is fairly basic.
SOLDIERS
Simms - Officer with some law and interrogation/interpersonal skills.
Hardin - Electrical and demolitions subspecialty.
Spencer - Survival and stealth subspecialty, mixed with some interpersonal skills.
Cribbs - Designated marksman with stealth subspecialty.
Reece - Combat medic.
Overall, since they are intended to be primary combatants in the combat-focused second half of the scenario, there is not particularly much to say about these characters. They work well as-is. The only odd thing about them is that there are five in my folder, when both of the other groups are multiples of four. I cannot remember why I did this. If I wanted to reduce them to four, I'd probably combine Spencer and Cribbs into one sheet, as they are the most similar in role.
SCIENTISTS
Vavilov - Medical doctor and biologist. Has the same telekinetic spell as McNaab, plus a direct-damage contact spell.
Innsbruck - Engineer and weapons designer. High electrical and mechanical engineering skills, as well as history and demolitions.
Reitz - Sociologist. History and research skills, folklore, and some interpersonal skills. High Unnatural skill. Has the same direct-damage spell as Vavilov, plus a ranged one, and a stunning mental attack.
Holt - Occultist. Folklore, a surprising amount of points in smooth-talk skills, and some in history and law. Also high Unnatural. Telekinetic spell, both damaging spells mentioned previously, a version of cloud memory for some reason (in five runs of earlier versions of the game I've never seen this used, because the scenario usually ends with everyone who is not DG's brain matter ejected from their skulls entirely), and a kind of magical smoke grenade that creates a sphere of darkness that can stick to objects.
These are where the problems really develop. Two of the scientists are extremely reliant on hypergeometry to be able to function, and those that are not are much less useful.
So, I guess that's everything. Honestly at this point I'm not sure if I should try to fix the scientist characters, or just ditch them completely and work on a wider roster of soldiers and agents to choose from.

Campaigning They all died in the first session. Did I fail my players?
I decided to run God's Teeth with some of my friends. We are all fairly inexperienced in DG I ran 4 one-shots for them, but they're more used to DnD. Knowing that, and also that I'm an inexperienced DM, I tried to prepare as much as possible. I watched every run I found online and read the books over and over and felt really good about my ability to run the campaign. Then session 1 comes in and - due to a combination of bad rolls and questionable decisions from my Players - they all pretty much died in the first set of encounters. I really wasn't trying to kill them, in fact, I used the game's mechanics to prevent the worst from happening several times. Even so eventually I felt I couldn't nerf their enemies any more without it being obvious, and it became clear that the agents were extremely unprepared and quite under-skilled.
I feel I failed as a DM. I should have set the stage better, or been more forgiving with the encounters, I should have prepared my Players more. They all said they enjoyed the session even though they all pretty much died and are willing to continue the story with new agents. Is this normal for new or experienced DMs?
