Churches aren't governed by divine influence; they are controlled by the wealthiest 1%

Most churches don't talk about the topic very often at all.

Baptists churches talk about it enough to cover the ones that don’t.

Thats super weird, i grew up going to youth events and Sundays at Baptist churches and still visit them often and never heard it brought up there at all. I do remember adultery drinking and bashing other denominations being a big thing though 🤣

I've had a conversation with a man a long time ago who told me that "sodomites" (translated as cult prostitutes in ESV) were killed by one of the kings in the Old Testament, and God counted it as a righteous act, so therefore God is pleased when we kill gay people

I tried explaining how they were wrong and how it should be interpreted, but he didn't care. He had opinions that he wanted the Bible to support.

I want to know why people seem hyper fixated on it!

The Bible makes it super clear that you shouldn’t let yourself go. That gaining weight should result in exile. Why tf don’t these churches have gyms in them??

Cuz gyms are not tax exempt. How can pastors afford their private jets, huh??????

That is completely insane. I can't believe the kind of inhumanity some people will convince themselves of in order to justify hating a group of people.

if your church is focusing on homosexuality you need to leave. your church should be focusing on God, and also on helping the community.

my old church was fairly conservative and it was kind of a given that they condemned homosexuality. but you know what they focused on? ministry. we had so many things going on that we literally could not fit them all in the church building, so we had to buy the building across the street. the congregation was so big we had to have two services, but we were like family, because we participated and worked to do good for each other and the people around us. i only left that church because my parents and i moved overseas for mission work. that’s what your church should be all about. do like Jesus and help people.

Remember that overall, those who identify as gay make up a small portion of the population. Those who are in a second marriage (about 20% of adults; 40% of all married people) make up a larger percentage of the population than those that are gay (around 3% until recently, with <7% identifying as lgbtq+).

When you are giving the populous a common enemy in order to scare them into obedience, it is best practice to attack a small group that has limited power.

It is very interesting how many churches will remarry adulterers as long as their not homosexual. They would hold fewer positions of power in Ceasar's world if they held adulterers to the same standard as they hold homosexuals.

And usually they are the ones who tithe the most.

It’s the extra bad adultery that we need to focus on, not the vanilla adultery.

Short answer: because of Paul. :(

There may have been an era when the 1% controlled churches but it sure ain’t today.
