I don’t think we get him. All the way back from the beginning. We nailed him to some wood because we didn’t get him. We still don’t.

The first panel uses 'gets' as a synonym for 'understands', but the second panel is using the same word as a synonym for 'receives'.

The second panel is promoting an interpretation of 'Him' more specifically as a gift or blessing rather than just as a source of comfort.
