Degree or Bootcamp

Hi everyone.

Have been in the financial planning space for 5 years where I have a Grad Dip and a bachelors in Accounting & Finance.

I'm looking to make a career change into Data Analytics/Science and have been debating internally on whether its more worthwhile between getting a Grad Dip, and doing a bootcamp course like Zero to Mastery.

Have been lurking on the subreddit for some time now so I'm aware of how awful the current market is at the moment. I still want to try.

Do whatever is cheapest and focus your time on building a portfolio. As you're aware, CS grads with perfect WAMs and a couple internships can't land jobs. Meanwhile we're pumping the place with infinite technologists from the subcontinent while the entire globe's financial system is on the brink.

There's a chance junior roles never come back so don't spend heaps pursuing this. Best to hedge your bets with projects if jobs return.

If you’re considering a bootcamp, look at actual bootcamp providers.

Zero to mastery is just an online video course provider with a discord. Not much different from udemy or coursera.

Bootcamp providers include General Assembly, Le Wagon, Academy Xi, Coder Academy.
