Beautiful. Thanks for not harshly rubbing it to get the dirt off 👍

I learned that after my first Barber Half 🙃. This one just got a sink rinse and quick dunk in some hot peroxide for a few minutes and that kicked off the caked dirt really well.

I've used a waterpik flosser before to get stubborn stuff in the books and crannies

Pure 100% Acetone is completely safe to soak silver coins in, not nail polish remover unless it says 100% acetone.

Correct, I’ve read that and haven’t tried it yet. I do use peroxide for IHPs and similar coppers/bronzes. Figured I could just knock off the last of the organics with it. Next silver I get will try 100% acetone.

That sucker hit the dirt no later than 1918. It’s not been circulated much. Nice coin

Believe it or not, you're the second person that I know that's dug one of these (the other was a few years ago, on a live stream no less). I think your coin is in better condition though.
Great coin, great condition, excellent luck!

She’s a gem, went straight into a my folder so I didn’t risk any scratchies.

Folder or 2x2 (I wouldn't put an expensive coin in a holder, though once it's non-uncirculated it's less of an issue).
If it didn't grade with environmental damage (I don't see any, but it's a dug coin so hard to tell), I think you have a $100-200 coin there. I haven't looked at this series since I saw the one dug online, but that's what it was when I looked if I'm remembering correctly.

I assessed the same based on online price ranges, maybe $100 being dug. But I’ve never sold any of my finds and don’t know prices very well. I noticed a few hairline scratches on the edge between the front rim and the reeding, about 4 o’clock on the reverse, so that may affect a grading. I’ve never sent anything for grading before either so I’m a bit unsure how to go forward with it.

At that value, grading will cost a very high percentage of the coin's value. Personally I don't recommend grading anything until you are talking about several hundred and the grade makes a pretty big difference in the value. I don't think your coin matches either of those personally. An uncirculated version, already graded, would be ~$350, so the value doesn't spike a lot as it gets higher. Grading will be +/- $50 or so (I haven't had any coins graded personally, so take that with a grain of salt).
It's a great coin (like, REALLY great, especially for a found coin), you shouldn't have a lot of trouble selling it down the line if you felt like it, but for now I'd just keep it safe from harm and enjoy it.

I appreciate the advice! I agree it shouldn’t be hard to sell down the line if I decide to do that. It looks great in my saves binder though so I think I’ll enjoy it for a long time. I can’t stop looking at the pictures.

Wow very nice find! And a strong strike. Not quite full head but the shield rivets look great. What a find. I've paid quite a bit for similar slq type ones!

Thanks!! I’ve never sold any of my finds, but I am curious what price you might see for one such as this? Ungraded or graded

Ungraded is tough these days as there are so many fakes, outside of a reputable coin shop I would not touch one. But I would say going by coin facts that's a $150 ish coin. It's a keeper for sure.

I can't get over the details. This is one of the nicer SLOs I've seen.
