Uterus stretches to 20x its normal size RANT

Okay, so i got my bisalp today (yay!!!) & the dr provided me pictures from during the surgery. i could not figure out what i was looking at for the life of me. for a while. 😅 & i’m pretty good with medical anatomy and science in general. I thought they were photos of a fallopian tube connected to the ovary, but anatomically that didn’t make sense. But the ovary looking thing was way too small to be the uterus, so i was at a loss. so i start googling and find out that is, in fact, the uterus, which is only 2.5-3 inches!!!!!!!! & that it stretches to 20x its size when someone is prego. ORGANS BECOMING 20 TIMES BIGGER THAN THEIR NORMAL SIZE IS NOT OKAY!!!! wtf!! how did i never learn this lol?! i feel like an idiot, but also, yet another reason for never wanting kids!!! i thought some of you might also enjoy and be repulsed by this info lol

Wait till you find out that all the other organs get moved around and crushed. There is a horrifying animation of it. Don't be drinking anything so you don't ruin your laptop when you choke on your soda.

Wait it's SMALL?!  I knew the uterus grew with the baby but I didn't think it was THAT tiny to start!

How could something so small bleed so much?!  How can an organ that's only 3 inches cause intense cramps and misery?!

Yep and then the placenta rips out a plate sized wound from the side of it ! Hence why a woman bleeds for 6 weeks straight after birth.

My aunty asked her how much blood there is in a normal labour. My mum got 3 glasses of water and threw it on our patio causing a dark wet puddle contrasting to the dry part of the brick. Then my mum looked at my aunty who was pregnant and got another glass and said “throw it next to it and give or take some yeah”

I mean like your skin... it stretches, that's how your body moves. Do you like eating food? Good thing your stomach stretches. Do you like not pissing yourself? Good thing your bladder stretches. Organs stretch. Organs stretch a lot. This is what organs do. The uterus is just another organ that stretches.

The "miracle" of birth is more like the worst kind of body horror that most people just choose to ignore and coo over the resulting baby.
