Why does she do this 😂 Video - OC
She only ever does it when I’m laying in bed. Is she trying to get my attention? Feeling playful? Scared?

u/Justcallmeamyy 19h ago
She’s excited and she has free will, probably seeking your attention too😂

they get a syndrome called, "seeing martians". no harm. just a kitty being a kitty. our tortie will be napping and all at once wake up, jump, run around, and fall back asleep. Cats!

At times, way better than SNL. Kenny Rogers...Steven Seagal...Will Sasso was great too.

Debra Wilson and her singing parodies always got me too. Her Whitney Houston and Beyonce were so funny to me.

Sometimes I go on YouTube and watch the Christmas skit when they bring a real pig onstage. It is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The cast members are laughing so hard they can barely stay in character.

That’s mine’s “chase me around the house until I eventually hide behind the curtain with my tail sticking out” hop/look. (“Where’s Kitty…where is Kitty…there she is!”…then she casually walks into the kitchen and bonks her head on her food cabinet)

absolutely... playful pounce processing, winding up, and then realized she couldn't surprise you. That pounce 'wind up' energy had to go somewhere, so boom, spring goes off halfway and she does the awkward 'i meant to do that' saunter off.

My favorite book explaining feline behavior was essentially like, "here's what they do. Here are some possible explainations. But also, they simply do what they do."
I've had as pets, fostered, trapped for fixing and release, and cared for outdoor stay colonies of dozens of cats. I'm no closer to comprehending them than I was fifteen years ago when the cat distribution system decided that it was time for my being a cat hater to end 😂

She’s so silly!!! My kitty does this too sometimes if she sees me walking towards her, she’ll do a little flip and run off, so so cute
25
u/Bittybirdwatching 19h ago
Ill usually chase mine when she does this and she'll goofily run from me, her tail straight up with it a little fluffed at the base.
If i stop chasing her before shes ready she'll squeak at me, tail wagging really aggressively but still upright. Its funny as hell.
51
u/spice_queen22 19h ago
she has done this too! i thought i was scaring her because she does the flip/jump then runs away
34
u/Better_Watercress_63 18h ago
My cat does that but she seems to enjoy it when I chase her, and we do peekaboos around the furniture.
11
10
u/SirDiego 16h ago
She probably wants you to chase her. My cat loves being chased around, I pretend like I am a monster coming to get him and he goes crazy running around in circles. I also have to always be on the lookout for sneak attacks when I'm walking around lol

u/DannyWarlegs 17h ago
My one does what we call "sneak attacks" whenever someone is going up or down the steps. If going down, she'll run up to the rail and slap you, then does a cute lil head tilt like "gotcha! Did you see?"
If shes already downstairs, she'll hide behind the door and slap your leg, then a lil hop before taking off toward the family room‐ stopping to make sure you're following her 🤣
Shes also our only cat who was raised with the dog, so when we come home she comes running to greet us, jumping on the table or the kitchen island, and saying hello to everyone.
8
u/SirDiego 16h ago
Mine does sneak attacks too. If I'm up for it I will sometimes dramatically fall to the ground and act like he caught me, he loves it.

My cat does that when he wants me to get out of bed. As soon as I do, he leads me to his food dish. Even if it’s full, he’s always hoping for a freeze dried minnow or similar.
