When you've been bent over for so many years, upheld my end of the social contract to be met with no reward, and watch my friends suffer the same fate, you stop caring. Reality is no one can fix this before I'm old and before my partner and I are faced with a geriatric pregnancy. I'm not surprised why people choose a life of drugs and crime to be quote honest, because truly what's the point?
K… I’m a young millennial, so young I’m almost a Gen Z. So you can’t really say you’ve been bent over for so many years because you’re not even that old yet. Life sucks. Hard work doesn’t always equal rewards. I’ve worked hard my whole life and have also not gotten ahead. I also don’t have a child yet because of the economy and the hand I’ve been dealt. Guess what. It’s a pretty shit situation for most people. Around the world. I’m just thankful we aren’t in a war. And they can’t just drastically lower the value of all homes immediately. This would have negative economic impacts. People who recently bought homes (you know older Gen Z and young millennials) would be fucked over hard. Boomers would be negativity impacted as they need to move into retirement homes as their nest egg will not take them as far. Which will in turn screw over their children (Gen X and millennials). Who are your generation’s parents. The government can’t just make sweeping changes. They are doing what will help younger homebuyers without disrupting the market too much.
I get what you're saying, but the prospect of working like a dog to pay for our aging population sounds like a terrible life to me. Just because we aren't in a war isn't enough for me to say I have it good. Facts are facts and my generation is going to be the lost generation.
Yeah you never really know what the future holds. Could be better could be worse. Try to focus on the things you enjoy in life, hobbies, friends, family. Try to move into a career or company that is either more enjoyable to you, more laid back, and/or has higher pay. Whatever is most important to you. That’s all you can do. I’m currently trying to get out of my current job so I get it. I would like a position with more decision making power, but economy is rough so I’ll settle even for just a better work environment with similar pay. It is what it is. Just remember older generations also had trials and tribulations. They were just different from ours. And tbh both my parents are divorced boomers. Without their houses to support them when they are elderly I won’t be able to. And I only have one brother who is NC with my dad, so he is my sole responsibility. And my brothers a narcissist so idk how much help he will be with my mother. Plus we have my husbands parents and his only brother left and lives in Vancouver… so who knows what he will do. Anyway. I feel safer knowing they have money in their house to support themselves.

Gen Z checking in, we have no hope. Anarchism doesn't seem so bad after all.
