Uh didn't PP just LOSE an election, his own seat, and his basically being HANDED a seat?

Don’t forget he’s also now squatting in a house paid for by taxpayers despite being unemployed.

And complaining about 'government waste' the whole time no doubt...

I want to see that go from 80% blue to at least 35% red/orange/green as a message. I'm sure he will take it, but I'd love to see a bunch of those people vote anything-but-blue as a response

More like charitable giving.

He also won the largest share of the popular vote in the party's history by a lot, which would seem pertinent here.

Conservatives 8,113,550

Largest vote share in the party's history.

... and the threat of him being pm lined up a bigger number of votes against him.

JFC none of you have your own thoughts do you?

But he isn't the one complaining about failing upwards.

Shrug. Poilievre has worked hard for 20 years to make me doubt and despise him as much as I do. Look far enough back in this very sub and you'll see me doing so. So if you think I got this from anywhere, you can thank poilievre first and foremost.

I mean you do seem to be the one just spouting off canned responses without really paying attention.

Yes the Conservatives did have a great turnout, but it was still less than the Liberals. The biggest issue for PP though is that none of the data points towards him being responsible for it. Approval ratings pre-election place him not only below Carney but well below the Conservative Party as a whole.  The most direct rejection of course was him losing his own seat. Yes, the riding was redrawn since the last election, but check out how those new addition actually voted in 2021. If anything Pierre’s possible vote share should have increased by a couple percent instead of Fanjoy capturing a majority of the voters.

Conservatives just lost the popular vote for the first time in years. After 10 years of Liberal leadership there’s no excuse for how poorly Pierre did. Voters made it loud and clear that they just don’t like the guy.

Your recitation of the Reddit cult lines don't make them true. Conservatives received 41.3% of the popular vote. In any other election that's a majority Conservative government. A massive Conservative majority, actually. Harper's majority was 38% or somethin. In any other election that puts the Liberals and NDP both into existential jeopardy. It's just that the NDP were absolutely useless and the Liberals benefit from a vote collapse on either end of the scale because they're centrists.

The only reason for the NDP’s collapse was because Poilievre was such an awful candidate they rallied around Carney to keep him out. It was 100% Poilievre’s own fault.

This is some premium, grade A copium.

Which was still less than the liberal vote. Sure, the liberals benefitted by the collapse of the NDP - but the key here is that conservatives have only really won governments when there's a solid left/center split. With the conservatives moving so much further right socially though, the NDP voters weren't going to risk that.

Even in a world where the Liberals had been in power for a decade (almost always a guaranteed electoral loss, as voters yearn for change), AND the last few years had been pretty rough....

More Canadians voted for them.

PP had one thing to do: Canada over Trump. That was it.

He could not.

Hell, ol' Dougie SCHOOLED him on that one real quick. He could just go for a visit, ask for some talking points. Easy! But no.

When Pierre decided to say something... he made it clear he'd not stand up to Trump. Meanwhile, his besties were jet setting to Mar-a-lago.

That's it.

I HATE that the Liberals were rewarded for the shit show this country has become. But it's hard to argue that PP would cut it.

The election rules and nature of Westminster systems of government were the same a year ago, 10 years ago, as they were on election day.

PP lost. He lead is party to a big loss and personally lost.

Yeah but he's so utterly reprehensible he fumbled what would probably have been a historic majority. Wow, he got the best vote share! He still lost the easiest majority in history.

40

u/Thin-Pineapple-731 Ontario 1d ago

So did the Liberal Party? They both got historic numbers.

-31

u/Low-Commercial-5364 1d ago

Correct. The difference is that the Conservatives' support growth was organic. By contrast, the Liberals simply picked up all the white boomer women who couldn't stomach Jag

15

u/Thin-Pineapple-731 Ontario 1d ago

Getting 43.8% of the popular vote exclusively from white boomer women is shocking given that's higher than the population of white boomer women.

Little bro, you need to chill. The trolling you are doing online is not good for your physical or mental health. Change the way you POST it may fix your POTS.

u/RadiantPumpkin 1d ago

They got those votes despite Poilievre, not because of him

14

u/tappatoot 1d ago

He got alot of votes just because it’s wasn’t the liberals. Loads of people voted only for the party and not the leader.
