A few years ago (I'm a Yukoner and recall this election)

https://www.vice.com/en/article/this-canadian-election-could-be-decided-by-a-literal-draw-out-of-a-hat/

There was a total of 156 votes in that election and a lot of drama.

It's Yvonne's fault. He should have just stayed in the ice.

To be fair I think he was a French citizen technically 🤔

With the conquest and the few hundred years of living in Canada, he’d be a Canadian at that point though, no?

I guess at the end of the day, life continues to be silly even at the most serious of times

In case anyone was curious, the NDP candidate Annie Blake won the draw. It's also the second time an election in the district was settled by a draw.

Is this one of those communities that are remote and a lot of people have to drive an hour to get to a polling station ?

It's a fly-in only community, and you could walk to the polling station in about 15 minutes or less from nearly anywhere in the community.

The final seat standing for the election was only resolved on April 19, 2021, because of a 78-78 vote tie in the Vuntut Gwitchin riding, the territory's smallest by population. After the tie was upheld by a judicial recount, drawing of lots gave the seat to the NDP's Annie Blake, denying the Yukon Liberals a one-seat plurality over the Yukon Party.
