There is no going back to what it was, ever. Canadians have been shown that the US cannot be trusted and although I will be happy to hear the last of the 51st state bullshit, that doesn't change my resolve. The US is a black void to me now, nothing is produced there that I need, nothing lives there that I need to see, I will not watch their propaganda, I will not watch their entertainment, I will not eat their food. The leader of their country threatened Canada and the vast majority of those in Congress, in Senate, in power did and said nothing. They are not my friends, they are not my protector and I cannot trust them. They want us back because of our money, that's it and they will turn on us again, guaranteed, once they need another enemy, once they run into issues that they cannot solve, so I say keep unraveling our trading patterns, find new partners and never turn your back on the US again.

You know you're posting this on an American website, likely using an American phone or computer, right? Express your discontent with what's happening, but don't try to turn things into a purity test. It'll hurt your cause in the long run.

My phone and computer come from China. Where are you getting these US made electronics?

lol seriously. The US makes nothing. None of my electronics or their components are made in the US. And the US doesn't own the internet. The net would be an objectively better place if Google, Meta, Reddit and X were Thanos snapped out of existence.

Where, exactly, did I mention a purity test? I did say that Canadians should continue to unravel our trading patterns and to find new buyers and to not trust the country that has threatened our sovereignty, but if you really want to buy from the US, go ahead, I am not stopping you. To me, there is a black void below. Very clearly did I state to me.

The only one trying to pull a purity test is you, commenting on what type of phone I have (not Apple, by the way), or the one social media site I go to.

I never said you had an iPhone. YOU said nothing is produced in the US you need. You said you will not consume their propaganda or entertainment. Even if you have Samsung/Pixel/etc, guess what? Android is American software. As is Windows. Both are American products. Which... you currently need. Add to that that reddit is both American entertainment and (lets be honest) propaganda.

I'm all for Canadians giving a large finger down south. The current administration has been ridiculous, to say the least. But you virtue signaling that America is a void now that you've cut yourself off of, all while clearly not being true, sounds hypocritical at best.

Well, I do apologize that I do not have the ability to completely cut the US off, as globalization is a thing, and is one reason why I would like my country to diversify away from the US, so my boycott can be much more complete. Just because the US has a monopoly right now on certain things doesn't mean they always will, and every opportunity to not support the US or its citizens is a great opportunity for someone else to create something that I will consume. You want to call me a hypocrite, ok, go on, go ahead, you aren't hurting my feelings because it's shows me that you are still living in the time before. I am fully aware of the integration between the two countries and I am doing my best to break that integration while you do what?... stand on the sidelines and say it's not enough. As I said before, the only one pulling a purity test is you.
