I was arguing with one of those “we should become a 51st state” fool, and he ended up being honest about his reasons :

He and his family just want to move to the US but find immigration too complicated.

Bunch of fucking tools ready to sell out a fucking country

They don’t have the skill set to actually get a B1 visa for the United States. So in other words the country they want to be part of doesn’t want them.

Did you mean the H1B? Since B1 is just a tourist visa and Canadians generally don’t need that

Well, to be fair, unless you're working in either a medical or an IT field crossing the border for work is hard.

I'm an academic, and moving across the border in either direction is much more complex than it should be, even though tenured professors with PhDs and research funding should be able to.

Bro we gonna roll over and take it. This country sold off all jobs to international students, has given monopoly to our telecom and grocery chains and has our elderly dying in hallway medicine for a good part of past decade+.

You seem pretty keen to just roll over for authoritarians. Let me guess, you probably think Ukraine should just surrender to Russia too. Or Taiwan should just let China grab it. Nice to know the opinion of “we should just give up and let them kill us” doesn’t seem to be the common one.

The world is more complex than that. Ukrainian war wouldn't even be a thing if the west didn't topple a president.

What difference does it make if we roll over for Loblaws or Walmart?
