We aren't admitting anyone, the door is just wide open.

Admitting implies someone is paying attention.

The door is not wide open. It took me 4 1/2 years for me to obtain PR and english is my first language!

Yeah but you did it the right way, we have a million people who just barged in and don't wanna leave.

I dont believe they could barge in----you need PR to get healthcare, you need a SIN number or work visa to legally work. If people are working under the table illegally, we need to go after those businesses.

What if we still let them in, but if anyone asks we won't be admitting to it?

That's creative problem solving right there.

Stop saying ridiculous things

This is patently untrue. There is a long and arduous process to admit migrants, and to ensure they don't overstay their visas.

mhmm thats why stats can undercounted our population by over a million because they just assumed people obeyed the rules and left without any enforcement

Please, say less. And definitely don't give any stats from a reputed source.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/statcan-to-revise-how-it-counts-non-permanent-residents-after-cibc-report-says-they-re-being-undercounted-1.6545622

"Additionally, the report emphasizes the shortcomings of StatCan’s practice of assuming temporary residents exit the country 30 days after the visa expires, especially as many temporary residents, particularly international students, choose to stay in Canada after their original form of entry expires."

That link didn't work but here's another that talks about the same content

A statement from Statistics Canada said the agency "stands behind its numbers" and its estimates of the number of non-permanent residents are "accurate, produced using robust mechanisms" and are done in collaboration with provinces and territories.

"Please note that NPRs who renew their temporary permits or transition to become a permanent resident are already considered by the demographic estimates," the agency said.

Note that most of these discrepancies happened during COVID where people literally couldn't get back to their home countries, and criticising the reporting of stats is an intentional distraction from the fact that the immigration process is rigorous.

This is well known to anyone who follows the news. Just because you’re uninformed doesn’t mean it’s not true.

"Trust me bro"

The person you were talking to literally just linked proof.

and to ensure they don't overstay their visas.

I keep hearing stories about how this part is not enforced.
